I've got a '17 with the standard mirrors and my dad has a '17 with the towing mirrors with blinker and puddle lamp. If I were to switch the mirrors on our trucks would either of us have to do anything else? I'm assuming its a standard plug at the door regardless of what mirror they bolt on at the factory. But will any message come up on his since it wont have blinkers and puddle lamps anymore, and will mine recognize that I now have those features?

I would assume the truck just sends power to the plug for whatever function is active and if the truck doesn't have that feature on it's mirror the power just dead ends at the plug.

Any input from those that have done it??

Your dad shouldn't have to do anything but you would have to have the codes flashed to make the blinker/puddle lights to work.... not sure if you have to flash a code to get the tow mirrors to adjust correctly in the upright position.

You need to have sales codes LEB for the turn signals, LEC for the puddle lamps, and LEG for the mirror orientation when flipped up, added by the dealer

and pay an arm and LEG for the dealer to flash it. Maybe they will cut you some slack and not charge you for EACH.

They should charge an hour for all of them. I had a list of 6 codes for them to flash when I added my remote start even though I didn’t have the hard parts installed for most of them yet, and the still only charged an hour.

Depends on ur dealer too. My dealer told me that was impossible to flash these sales codes onto my 2013 when I had it even though I had instructions and everything for them. They refused to do it for me

The LEB, LEC & LEG Codes should be in the available options list of any 13 and up Ram. I would find another dealer who's willing to plug the truck in in actually look. It never ceases to amaze me how incompetent and inaccurate a lot of dealers are.
