as the title states.. I'd like to know if the amber turn signal on a 2002 Ram makes any difference? I know the bulb itself is already an amber color so are there any real reasons to keep the amber side reflectors. The reason I ask is because I have found some new headlights that I like, especially because they have no amber turn signals. I added a picture for a better desvription of what I am talking about. Ignore the bulbs.

Legal requirements. All vehicles sold in Canada and the US must have an amber reflector on the side of the vehicle in front of the forward set of tires. Same goes for any flashing indicators, they must also be amber in color unless the vehicle is a designated emergency response vehicle then there are specific colors allowed based on use.

Amber is required by law
That being said many people run those headlights without any hassle

I have not had an amber reflector on the front of any of my vehicles since.... ever.
I have never once had an issue about it.

(Running a red turn signal up front, instant fix-it ticket)

I ran my 98 Durango with clear corners for 5 years and it passed inspection each time through, and never got me pulled over. This is the only pic I could find of them...

I my state (FL) as long as you have a amber bulb, clear reflectors are good to go so you need to check with your state laws. With that said, I love my clear corners they clean up the look.

In Texas it's white or clear, they don't care as long as it's there and not red.

I am not sure about all vehicles having amber corners. Look at my previous car, it doesn't have any. Just amber bulbs. It was 100% stock.

Either way, I will take the ticket... One of the things I hated the most on my truck was the amber corners.

Op - get those headlights, they will look great and I am sure you will be fine. :)

I painted mine black and have had no problems. Using switchback bulbs as well.

Thanks guys, I am in Texas and Dodge Dude says, they shouldn't care. And I doubt they will, I'm sure it's one of those dismissible tickets anyway, "find some amber reflectors in the next 30 days and take it to court".

I don't think you have to have amber reflectors in the light, they just have to be in the front. For example my Audi has them as part of the bumper (rectangle plastic reflectors).

Check your local laws. If it says you have to have an amber reflector then that is what you have to have. If all it says is an amber turn signal then you should be able to get away with the white marker. As long as you have that amber bulb in the light.

I think you have to have amber reflectors no matter what (in the front on the side). Some places just don't check for it. A lot of states are electing to only do emission testing (to not lose federal funding) or none at all.

I was told that they were fine, in OK, as long as they light up amber when used. so I tinted mine. They look black, but still light amber when on. Good luck and the new lights look sweet!!!
