I have a 2011 5.7l ram. I been getting the P000B code. $07E8

B camshaft position slow response Bank 1

I which side is bank one. driver or passenger side?

This refers to the MDS camshaft celenoid. How many camshafts celenoids are on a 2011 ram 5.7 hemi. I understand it is four on them. but some one says there is 8 one for each cyinlder. I understand it that there is 4 celenoids 2 at the front of the block 2 at the back. Any info would be appricated.

Also for those of you that have done this job. How often do they break in the block and how hard are they to get out. Lets say...is it easier then dealing with a broken exhaust manifold stud?

That code refers to the VCT solenoid, not the MDS solenoids. There’s only one camshaft solenoid.Chances are the VCT solenoid has failed. It’s under the intake manifold.

Anyone have the part # for the new oem vvt solenoid ?

53022338AA

The last letter indicates newer revisions of the part. For example, 53022338AB will also work, and is a newer revision.

But, it isn't gauranteed that this code is due to the VVT oil control solenoid. Other things, like insufficient oil pressure, worn out or broken cam chain tensioner, or felony incorrect oil viscosity could potentially set this code as well.

Thank you,

Yes I'm aware that this code could be another issue but I am confident in my abilities to change the solenoid first and hope that corrects the problem. If it's the phaser or the timing chain that needs to be changed or re adjusted, I'll send it to a car mechanic.

If you have access to a scan tool that can do graphs you might also compare Exhaust Camshaft Angle and Exhaust Camshaft Desired Angle parameters during a short drive cycle. Most probably you will notice a significant difference between the two. Also, sometimes failed VVT solenoids cause the truck to bog while coasting at low speed, like rolling down a slight downhill with your foot off the pedal. The truck would do periodic decelerations like if a tranny can't decide on the gear, but in fact it's not the tranny - it's your cam at the wrong position and that makes the PCM drop timing and have these torque variations. Long story short - skip over the stuff that says maybe you have incorrect oil grade, etc., just test the angles.

If you're going to replace the VVT solenoid yourself, I'd strongly suggest replacing the manifold O-rings as well, they harden over time.

I did get around to changing that oil control solenoid. Haven't had a check engine DTC since and a big difference immediately I noticed.
Ran into a snag though and the old one was broke and was stuck in there. Had to use needle nose pliers to get the guts of the solenoid out and then I used a cement bolt to thread into it and pull it out with channel locks and a hammer.
Other issue I found was my runner control actuator was broken on the circuit connection. So I swapped it from a 6.4 intake Ive been meaning to install and gave the 5.7 some port work and now I hear that air whistling during acceleration from that active runner control.
its made a difference in performance!
