The issue is my head lights and fog lights flash every time I lock, unlock or use the remote start. This is a autopage alarm system that i had installed back in Dec. I recently installed a set of retro hid kits for the low-beams and fog lights i'm pretty sure that its not a good thing to start and stop the ballast. Now I've disabled the illuminated approach in the HVIC and i turned my auto lights to the off position, but it still flashes every time i press the button on my alarm fob.

I was wondering if there would be any way to install like a kill switch for the headlamps and fog lamps. completely disabling the lights all together or if anyone has ever done this before if there was a DIY.

Thanks for all and any info for this issue.

Im sure there is an option in the aftermarket alarm to disable that. I know I could in my last vehicle

i talked to the alarm company and they said that it clearly says the "parking lights should flash" not the headlamps and fog lamps so i took the truck to the alarm place were it was installed and they said it would cost about 700$ to make a custom module for my truck. they even tried wiring the parking brake to disengage the lights but with no success.

sounds like they are taking you for a ride. All the aftermarket alarms I have had over the years and never had headlights flash just parking lights.

they are full of **** dude.... I have an auto page alarm I installed with a buddy who does this stuff for a living and when we got done I realized the headlights were coming on so we read the install guide and he found how to shut them off.. it took him 3 min flat.. He put the LCD remote in program mode hit a few buttons and they headlights went off..

the only thing is we forgot to do the same with the fogs so I have to shut the fogs off everytime I get out of the truck or they will flash during lock/unlock and start up.. So he is supposed to meet up with me because he has my install guide and we are going to disable that.

welcome to RF...I agree that it should be able to be fixed. I had an aftermarket remote start on my 05 and I had the installer turn off the lights and the horn.

Does it do it all the time when using the remote or only after sitting for a while?

Mine sends a pulse to the heads and tails (Could be due to HID and LED) when i pop the doors open w/ my remote after sitting for the night. Been a while since i have used the remote start but checking my vid it does it too.

You can see it here when i use the remote start about 5-10 seconds into the vid.

My truck does the same thing. But I have the factory alarm. But only when the truck sits for awhile. I kinda like it though

I have HID's and LED tails.. The delay to the running lights coming on, mine does do that. but not the quick pulse to the heads.

it flashes the lamps no matter what even if it sits overnight. i contacted the alarm company and they said to see if the dealership can disable the flashing of lights through the "bus" but they said they cant do that.. So i guess i am going to have to do some kind of "kill switch" for all the lights..im getting pretty upset about this whole thing i didn't spend 450$ on a alarm that i can even control...OR DID I... anyway the P/N for the alarm system i have is C3 RS730LCD

I know it's and old post, but I know what the issue is. I'm and Autopage installer. In our trucks the lighting switch communicates to the BCM via a single wire and varies the voltage to tell the BCM what the lights should be doing. To manipulate this wire with an aftermarket unit, you pulse the wire to ground through a certain resistance to affect the proper voltage to the BCM. All of the wiring info tells you 180 ohms to ground or something like that, but that doesn't do the parking lights, it will do the headlights and parking lights. What I do is write down the voltage at the switch for parking lights and dial in a variable resistor until I hit my target voltage. Bam, parking light flash and no stupid headlight flash. One footnote: when remote started, it will flash the headlights during unlock, if you have the light switch in the truck set to 'Auto'. Hope everything worked out for you. If you need any further assistance, call me at my shop 618-549-4663 ask for John. Later.
