If they were aimed correctly before the lift and bigger tires, they shouldn't need more than a couple/three turns to get them in the ballpark

If so it’s all coming apart again but I did get them lowered enough for a road trip but over 20 turns CC

The center of the beam should be roughly 2" lower than the center of the headlight at 25 feet at normal ride height. So, if on level ground. The center of the headlight is sitting at 37" off the ground, the center/hotspot of the beam should be 35" at 25 feet. Or, pull up to a wall, mark the center of the beam with tape, back up 25 feet and place a piece of tape 2" below the original and center your lights on that. The purpose is to maximize the distance your lights project out, but to also keep lights from aiming upwards into people's eyes. Trucks with a level are some of the worst offenders since hardly anyone adjusts their lights after being leveled, so they're aimed too high causing glare, but when they add any weight to the bed, the lights are pointed even higher becoming even more dangerous to everyone.

stock 5.7 with 6.4l cam and MDS delete
so the proper way to aim the headlights of any vehicle regardless of the turns is to back the vehicle away 25 feet from a wall and adjust the headlights untill they are even. should be roughly thigh high and evenly spaced

I can relate to the 20 turns...I replaced my stocks with the AlphaRex LEDs and turned that freakin' screw so many times and didn't seem like it moved the headlight. They are indeed even but had to manually move them with the bottom bolt (mounting location) on the headlight. They are a little low but I got frustrated and left them for now. One day I'll have more patience and take another run at it. The only negative is that I have the new "cool" lights but actually seem dimmer (due to leveling) than the LEDs I had in there to start with.

Thoughts for doing this easier when the leveling screw doesn't appear to work?

If you turn it too far one way or another, it may be possible to pop the adjuster out of the socket on the inside. Not sure how the alpharex lights are.
