I am confused about something, so i am trying to find the correct airbox for my truck as the previous owner put some small air filter that sticks off the intake and i want the OEM one back. So i am finding that some have a small hole for a tube that runs across the engine, mine i do not believe had this as there is no possible place for any tube like that to go to. I dont understand why some HEMIs have this and others dont? mine is an 03, i got one from a salvage yard 04 and it has this hole, but my brother in laws 03 does not have this hole. what is this for and why do only some have it? very confused???

okay, so after some research i find that the one with the port is part number 53032405AD, which is a replacement part for the one without the port which is part number 53032405AA, but if you have a truck that does not use the port, what are you supposed to do with the hole? just leave it open? this is quite a confusing thing.. im guessing they just discontinued making the one without the port so they dont have to stock both ones, most likely the newer truck utilize the port, but im just confused what i am supposed to do with this open hole, anyone with any knowledge of this id appreciate any input. thanks..

Its for the fresh air make up tube for the pcv system. Maybe the 03 doesnt have it.
The other end normally attaches to the oil fill.

03 doesn't have a vacuum line like 04 and above, on the side of the oil filler spout is a nipple that runs a tube from there to the throttle body for fresh air only, 03 is the only new Hemi with an internal PCV. I didn't run mine for fear of gunking up my TB, so I put an air filter at the end of the tube, you cannot do this on 04 and up because it has to pull a vacuum or you can shorten the life of the motor. I learned all that here.

First, I'm not saying it's better, just different- the 03 is the ******* child and has some slightly different features, for example, 03 is the only the year you can do a TMS (Torque Management System) delete buy disconnecting one wire making your truck feel like you've installed a shift kit, with the Overdrive turned off, my truck snaps between shifts now.
Second, Vararam "Air Grabber" doesn't exist for our model, only the "Hemi Under Glass", and I like the old school look so I reengineered one to fit and made a removable ram air snorkel to feed it, but it works without the snorkel too because the pan seals against the top of the hood (had to build up the seals too) and pulls air from the high pressure area under the hood/top of grill, the snorkel just makes it more efficient.
Let me know if I can help you with anything.

"Lost foam method" is how I constructed the snorkel. It's actually a lot nicer in person, I'm sorta OCS and can't stand slop, so it's tight and precise, snaps in with precision with the "Mini Push Latches", but has rubber grommets at pressure points to prevent cracking. Has held up beyond expectations so far, we'll see.

Wow Tray well done, looks amazing. For the OP if you have the line running to the stock box from the intake manifold then you need this hose connected as it carries a vacuum. If this is not connected properly you stand the chance of burning up a valve if left disconnected to long. by to long I mean months or years.

Thanks for the tip, but not on the 03' Hemi, the only one with internal venting. 04' and above and it pulls a vacuum, 03' is just a vent. Been through this in depth in other threads.
