I went to check my air filter for replacement and discovered a very strange contaminant patter on the filter. It appears to me that it got wet at some time since my last replacement. Has anyone in this forum observed this same problem and is there anything that can be done to prevent it from happening?

40000kms on this filter. Throttle body valve, MAF sensor, and intake pipe are spotless.
Interesting pattern you have there. What does everything else look like?

The truck has about 80,000 miles on it. I do not have a carbon filter. It almost appears that the filter got wet but only in this portion of the filter? Do you think it still could be a PCV valve?

Has anyone used the dry reusable air filters? I am looking at and afe pro dry filter. It is washable and costs $160 CAD, so I want to make sure it is worth the money before I purchase. Thanks.

Been running the MOPAR intake ( had it thrown in for free when I bought the truck ! ) , Its made by AFE, Same washable material as the drop ins.

Its 10y old now. Still looks new. I wash it once a year. No oil is the best part !

Id get one of those 20$ Catch Cans as well, No need to waste money on the expensive ones they do the same thing ! And it will help keep your internals clean.

Yeah, gotta check mine too, since we had all the bad dust and fires, hmmmmmmmm. Cabin too. To the OP< definitely looks like a back flow from PCV> Check PCV and maybe consider a catch can, but get a quality CC, not go cheapo, IMHO...
