I’ve been having some lights and system alerts popping up on my dash and the little readout screen lately. The warning signal seemingly randomly dings, and then warning lights start popping up. They are always similar and go in this order. Service 4 wheel drive system, and the ‘service 4 wheel drive’ light also comes on. Then he abs and traction control lights come on. I also at this point can’t use my traction control button. Then the little screen changes from the 4x4 alert to Service Park Assist System. Kinda crazy. I go into my alerts on the screen and the only thing that comes up is Service Park Assist System. I then look at trouble codes on my tuner and it says
U4148 Split Air #1 circuit.
So my question is has anyone had this happen to them? What exactly should i do other than take it to a shop? I like to do my own stuff but this is beyond my understanding. I think.
I have a 12 Ram 1500 outdoorsman. It does have a tuner and custom tune from Hemi Fever. So no clue if the tuner could be giving me problems or if it’s something else. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Brent

Never a check engine light when driving down the road, other then suspension specific 4x4 and esp lights? That's like 4 or 5 different sensors. Try running codes?

No never a check engine light. The only code that comes up is the one I get on my tuner

Do u feel any feedback in ur brake pedal when braking? Like the abs system is trying to work? I had some similar lights come on intermently and it ended up being a wheel bearing/hub. The abs sensor is part of it so that's why the warning light came on

No I don’t feel anything like that. Everything is working really well. I’ll keep an eye out for that though. Thanks

Sorry, I missed that. Are you sure the first digit is a 4. Usually it’s 0,1,or 2. “U” faults are network errors. So something is not communicating or sending an implausible signal. Do you have bigger tires, and use the tuner to correct the speedometer?

Ahh my bad, sorry about that. U1418bf9b65540276983dc0e87c443a5b212e.jpg I do have larger tires. Not sure if the tuner is correcting the speedometer. So would you think it’s something that needs to be reset?

U1418 is an implausible right wheel distance signal, so the signal the computer is getting for how far that wheel is traveling doesn’t make sense compared to the other three, and all the warnings and messages you’re getting make sense for this code. Is that tuner capable of seeing if the code is stored, pending, or permanent? If it is, and it is stored or permanent, try clearing it and drive a few cycles and see if it comes back. If it’s permanent, then that means it has happened enough times, or constantly, that it won’t clear until the problem is fixed. If it’s permanent, or it keeps coming back, the first thing I would do is remove the tuner and put it back to stock, just to take that off the table. If still getting the code, then it could either be faulty front right or rear right ABS sensor, or the wiring to one of them, or a bad pcm. It would have to be properly troubleshot to narrow it down.

Thanks! This makes a lot of sense. I’ve cleared the code a couple of times. It randomly just goes away at times also. Another thing i have noticed a lot lately is the traction light turns on for a quick moment when I hit a bump or pothole. It’s usually when the rear or rear right hits the bump/hole. Wondering if it’s the sensor needing replacement.
