Hello, I'm trying to connect with a Forscan ELM 327 USB on AlfaOBD, but the connection doesn’t seem to work. There is some data transfer (the lights are blinking), but no readings. Could you please confirm if the Forscan ELM 327 USB is compatible, and if not, which reader would you recommend? Ram 2500 2014 ( I cannot post on the gen 4 )

I tried one of those devices and wasn't satisfied it was adequate for the task.

For AlfaOBD for windoze I use an OBDLink SX.

For AlfaOBD for Android, the preferred device is the OBDLink MX+.

And, welcome to Ram Forum.

PS: The OBDLink SX appears to have disappeared from the amazon dot com site, but is still showing as available from the dot Ca site. For purchasing in Canadastan, the SX is $75 versus $210 for the MX+.

Or the MX+ with windoze.

Those cheapie Elm327 dongles usually don't work because they don't have bi-directional comms / commands. They can normally only read, but not write except to clear a code.

PS: The Forscan is the Ford comms protocol / works best on Fords.

Later on this AM, I will go out and connect my MX+ up. I will take some screen shots to show what the setup / connection mode looks like on my PC. .

Those numbers you are using / posting are no where near correct.

Here are the settings that work on my PC with AlfaOBDm and the MX+. Connect 1st time / every time.

If using bluetooth, be sure the interface you choose is "Bluetooth ELM327//OBDLink LX/MX/MX+//vLinker"

Something in your configuration is not correct. 'Device model not detected'.

AlfaOBD device model not detected.jpg

Show a screenshot of the Start tab while in Regular mode.

When I look at that screenshot, there isn't an ECU selected, nor does AlfaOBD appear to be connected.

In your previous screenshots, 'Device model not detected' is a notification of a configuration or hardware error.

Is there any reason that you're choosing to connect using Advanced Mode?
