The real advantage with the MX is the ability to look into things on the "interior" CAN bus (things like the memory and heated seat modules).

If you are only using it to connect to modules that dont require the "blue" or "yellow" adapter, then the cheapie units will work fine. When you want to get into stuff that needs the adapter is where the MX shines....no adapter necessary, it swaps its own PIN connections to make it happen.

It is (will be) handy if you need to troubleshoot heated seats for sure, once you connect to the module you can see the current in and out, etc.

But before I wanted to do any of that, my 20.00 BAFX cheapie from Amazon worked just fine.

Looked at the reviews of the MX unit on amazon and then the MX+ reviews.

YIPES!

So what's not to like about the MX+ now? Isn't it the latest, greatest, updated, etc?

I'm about to order one RFN (RFQ for my friends south of the Potomac), inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

Only difference is the MX+ supports iOS. Alfa isn’t used on iOS devices, so, it’s up to you. Are you going to use it at all with a scan tool app for iPhone?

I mostly use iOS for everything, but my daughter had a 5 year old 8” Verizon tablet I pulled out of a drawer, updated to the latest Kit-Kat version of Android, downloaded the OBD app demo and am good with that.

Just couldn’t quite parse or separate the wheat from the chaff, squelch the S/N ratio enough on the device notes and reviews to figure out what, if any, benefits there really were to the MX+.

Thanks.

I’ll order the plain MX now, be here tomorrow.

Any chance that the speed limiter can be changed using this tool?

Yes, yes it is! Alexey is THE MAN!

Just updated the BCM with the 3.92 gear set. Letting her sleep overnight. Will post with updates if it makes any difference. Wondering, should I reset the transmission shift adaptation to relearn my driving or let it ride as is???

A quick search on google and it’ll unveil 1000’s of people complaining. It doesn’t ride as nice as the bilsteins either.

I will have to disagree with you on the ride quality. I have both style suspensions available each day, Laramie Mega 4x4 non air ride and a Big Horn Mega 4x4 with air. The air truck rides better, is much less sloppy and loose feeling in the rear. I will not buy another one without the air ride. Been flawless for 32,000 miles so far. I have a 8.5x16 enclosed loaded with tools, hooked to it almost everyday. It really shines when I load the kubota 95-2 track loader on the dual tandem bumper pull.

The auto level suspension is without a doubt superior to coil rear and aftermarket bags. (last truck was equipped with Firestone rideriteand full wireless air setup). This opinion is loaded and unloaded. Plus, the aftermarket setups with wireless capabilities are more expensive than the $1695 option ram charges for auto level.

Has anyone tried to set the auto fold for the power folding mirrors?

Doesnt work AFAIK. Seems to be meant for vehicles that have support for it, the RAMs seemingly do not.

Is there a thread on this subject confirming that it indeed doesn’t work? Not saying you’re wrong, just wondering.

Rams do if they are optioned with the correct mirrors, usually the chrome back style. You can retro fit if you have the correct wiring installed from the factory. There are numerous threads where it has been tried, but in a nutshell this is the general consensus.
