I want to go to TX2K14. I've seen videos from the past 2 years and it looks like a blast. I would like go go to the TX Mile too.

I've got a question for you radar guys/cops. My buddy has a radar detector and driving around the city it'll pick up K waves from gas stations and things all the time, but when a cop is nearby it always has a Ka wave, weather he's driving or not. Do cops leave their radars on all the time, or what is it picking up?

Radars have many settings. Patrol mode allows mebto be mobile and still ran radar. I csn still hold signal. Stationary is an option of course which is when I usually hold signal. Many radars have gone back to K band. Thats the most common false alarm on a radar thus making more likely for people to ignore it. Cops can take advantage of this.

If someone has a decent radar detector, going back to K band will not fool them. There is a significant difference in signal strength between an automatic door sensor and a radar gun.

It seems that about 1/2 the city police in my area use K-band while 90% of the highway police use Ka band. It's very obvious when I'm seeing a false hit. Plus, the radar detector in the OP uses GPS and is designed to filter false positives, meaning the idea of going back to K-band means even less.

Even if a cop used a K-band radar gun by a grocery store with a K-band door sensor and the GPS based radar detector was set to filter that false positive, it would still show the police officer's radar gun, because it would show up as a different signal, despite being on the same band. Thus the reason the door sensor doesn't interfere with the radar gun's operation.

There's a few guys in Austin that almost every weekend are topping 200+ in their races

But this reminds me that I really need a detector and jammer now that I have a vehicle that can go over 108
