Swapped my Passport 9500ix for the new Passport Max. Had to pre-order it about 2 months ago but it showed up today. If it's as good as they say it is maybe my insurance payments will go down. lol

Radars + vigilance is usually a good combo. I learned the hard way if you rely on the radar solely you will get busted. 3 laser tickets in 2 months a couple of years ago woke me up. I still would never run without one now though.

I read about the new Escort in Car and Driver and am so intrigued to see how it works. My Beltronics is getting a little old at this point so it might be almost time for a replacement. Let us know how you like it, it looks sweet! Im glad to see im not the only one that runs with X off, what an annoyance it is.

Nice! Let us know how it does. I have the 9500i, and am very pleased with it. I bought mine for $100 (mint on CL), so who wouldn't be happy?!. I don't think I'd ever spend $500+ on a detector, but if I did, the Max would be it.

You can't detect a radar that is in "hold" mode. "Hold" mode allowed a radar operator to stop the signal sent out of the radar. Release the "hold" button and the signal is sent. If done right, a cop can release the hold and track and lock your speed before you can react. That being said, it takes a vigilant, dedicated cop to do that and most cops don't. I rarely do that, but if I see that cars are consistently speeding at 15 MPH or higher over the limit, I might sit and play the game.

The non-cop part of me though says, nice radar and great install. Hope it works out for you. Years ago, I would have been all about getting one of those!

came back from the lake today.....3 cops clocking (that I saw, lol) - I was speeding every time......and didn't get stopped. I do 6-8 over, enough to not get boxed in every 2 miles, and enough that the coppers don't look my way either.
