Hi I recently purchased a used 2014 Ram 1500 with tow mirrors. A few days after purchase the engine light came on and after a scan it said the issue was the ambient temperature sensor. Usually when I start the truck up in the morning it’s about 70 degrees outside but the truck typically reads 43 degrees. Sometimes while driving it will correct itself to proper temperature and so the engine light is on and off. Sometimes it will also correct itself and then drop back down to the low 40’s. I have replaced the sensor itself and have unplugged the battery but nothing has worked thus far. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I’d rather not take it to the dealership as they take forever but I guess I will if I have to, I don’t think the truck is under warranty anymore.

Are you sure you got the correct mirrors for the 13 and up Rams with the temperature sensor in the drivers side mirror?. If so when you say you replaced the exterior temp sensor you are referring to the temp sensor in the drivers side mirror correct? The check engine light is normal when the outside temp is not reading correctly. Once you correct the outside temp issue the check engine light should go off. If you did replace the actual temp sensor in the mirror I would check the mirror wires and all your connections. If you have a quality scanner or the alfa OBD app you can also check for DTC codes that may point you in the right direction. Sounds like you either have the wrong mirrors or a defective mirror, mirror wiring or mirror temp sensor.

There's a TSB to fix this.
