I installed the AMP steps the second week I had the truck. I'm getting ready to add the override button so the car wash will be easier to get them clean and in winter weather where freezing could be an issue.

I have the AMP and love them. I hand wash my truck and just crack open a door to deploy and wash/rinse.

If you are thinking about running through the truck wash with the steps deployed you may damage them. I read a post that described car wash damage to power steps.

I’m not impressed with these amp boards, the build quality is top notch but the installation is crap. There is nothing to the mounts except 2 bolts and 2 rivets (which I haven’t done yet). The boxes are marked for drivers and passenger side, so how is it that they are miles off?
The drivers side goes up under the truck but will not come down because they hit the water gaps in the pinch weld.
The passenger side hits the pinch weld and stops there.
There is no adjustment on these so what could I have done wrong? Or did they put the wrong parts in the kit?

I may send them back and get RBP as I have wasted enough time on this crap.

Drivers side hits these

Why I did the RBP. Installer said Amp has some issues on Rams pinch welds.

I had to grind some of my pinch welds, and primers and spray bomb over the grinded area on mine. They were hanging up in a few spots on the pinch welds.
I’m not grinding paint off my truck, these things are $1,400, they should fit. I’ll send them back before I do that.

That’s how **** works for me. I have a 50-50 shot and always choose wrong. So many people said go with Amp, should have known it’s just Lund garbage.

Check out the pic of the passenger side, it’s about 7/8” from even going all the way up.

Now that we have established I made a bad choice (story of my life). Does anyone have any ideas why these are off so much?

YouTube the troubleshooting video. It explains how you can loosen the steps and tighten them in order so the pull up straight and true. Most likely when your steps were installed they just tightened everything up as they worked from front to back. The instructions tell you not to do that .

There no way I’m going to be able to move the passenger side in 7/8” buy loosening and retightening bolts. Check out the pic, it’s not even close.

Remember that 3/8" on each end will give you about 3/4" total, the law of psychics. I installed mine personally but probably never again without a bigger garage to work in. Also remember that the front is the drive end the back is just a slave and only follows what the master does. I'm sure both AMP and RBP are the same when it comes to the mechanics.

I’m not sure how I can gain anything to move them toward the centerline of the truck, the brackets have to mount flush against the rocker. So if they were in a bind or something that would make sense but mine are overlapping the pinch weld by over 1/2” on the passenger side.
The only thing that would move them in would be to move the bracket in.

Took the whole passenger side back off for the third time and can’t see anything that can be done to move these in toward the center of the vehicle. I guess I call amp on Monday and see what excuses they come up with.

I installed my AMP power steps myself. I did have to put pressure on them and lightly bounce up-and-down in order for them to clear the pinch welds. It's kind of known that you have to do that but for some reason I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Mine were hanging up on the edge of the weld like it appears yours is. I lossend up the bolts a little and gently bounced on them a few times and they cleared. I have had them on my truck for 4 years now and they work flawlessly. I'm a pretty big guy and they don't flex at all. Now that I think about it the passenger side was the one that hung up the worst when I installed them originally.
