Amp Steps Question???

Does it auto retrieve when you take your weight off the steps or is it a solid fail-safe switch when you close your door.
I have a small dog that uses the steps when he jumps into the truck and I want to make sure it won't auto-close on him as long as I have the door open.
Is "failure mode (no power of a sudden)" open or close?

They close when the door shuts.

Yes. There is a pressure switch that will not allow them to close or open if there's pressure on the step. Keeps the motor from burning out.

Not sure how much pressure it takes though. Shouldn't be much as it's more for kids than small dogs. It isn't much though.

That's also how you wash them.

If you really want to know.... and not near someone with them.... you could head to a Ford dealership and check out their Platinum line. They have the power steps and will give you an idea.

There is a slight delay of about 2 seconds when you shut the door. They deploy instantly when you open the door.

I have the AMP's on both my truck and wife's lifted 2 door JK.
