Here are some pictures of my 2018 Amazon Fire HD 8” tablet, modified with Google Play and Nova Launcher, paired with the OBDLink MX Bluetooth OBD Device and the TaoTronics Bluetooth Device (listed above).

Build Price List:
- 2018 Amazon Fire HD 8” Tablet - $40 (Prime Day Deal)
- Samsung Evo 128gb Micro SD Card - $19.95 (Prime Day Deal)
- Apps2Car CD Slot 7”-10” Tablet Mount - $15.95 (Prime Day Deal)
- TaoTronics Bluetooth Reciever - $14.99
- OBDLink MX Bluetooth Device - $69.95
Total Price: $90 (w/o OBD MX) $160 (w/ OBD MX)
I love my new setup, I could have gone with a $200-$400 Chinese Android headunit but you never know how good they will be. I have everything I want and need on this tablet, plus the added bonus to be able to remove it and take it with me if me and my gf want to lay in the bed of my truck at night and watch a movie or if we are at the park.
I still need to hide some of the wires and tuck them behind the center radio bezel, but since I plan on removing the center radio bezel and taking it apart and vinyl wrapping the sides, I don’t want to go through the trouble of tucking wires right now when I’m just going to be taking the bezel off again in a week or two.
