For the second time now in just over a month of ownership I've had the Homelink buttons cease to function.

Both times have been the same: Get in truck, hit button to open garage door, start truck, back out, hit button to close door and no response.

Nothing on the cluster about transmitting from the trained channel, nothing about training from the untrained channels either. Just like they aren't there and it stayed that way all the way home. Last time it did it, the buttons were back to normal when I left work.

2018 1500. Still under factory warranty, but you know what'll happen if I go in. 'Could not replicate problem'.

Putting LED bulbs in our garage door opener caused the same thing to happen. Would open/close if the lights were initially off, but nothing once they were lit up.

Mine works sporadically. Can't depend on it. Gage cluster always says it's transmitting. Does not correlate to the lights being on or off.

Be careful putting LED bulbs into garage door openers, they can cause the circuit boards to short out and ruin the opener.....

My homelink had always worked great, I can open my garage door from half a block away.

To be clear, I'm not referring to the opener responding to the Homelink. I've been through range/interference issues and have quashed that.

The issue is with the truck itself. It simply stops transmitting and acts like I'm not even pushing the button. I'd like to know if anyone else has had that issue or not before I go any further.

Well that sucks. Have you tried assigning that motor to a different button?

I have not, but I don't see it making a difference since usually the untrained channels display 'Training' when you press them. When my issue pops up, nothing is displayed for any of the channels.

The Homelink/Compass module will on occasion go out. They are pretty reliable but every once in a while you may get a bad one. There were several people that had sparatic issues with them in the early 4th gen trucks that seemed to be related to BCM. I haven't heard of it happening on the newer 4th gens. The Homelink won't work unless the BCM has the CV2 sales code enabled in order for the Homelink to work. It seemed that some of them were glitching and somehow weren't communicating with the BCM. Changing the Homelink module did not seem to correct this issue on those trucks. It is normal for the transmitting display not to show up sometimes on the EVIC depending on certain conditions. When this happens does your compass heading still show up on your EVIC? I would recommend trying to make a short video when it happens so you can show it to the dealer so they can't pull the whole (cannot duplicate) card on you. There is a good chance it's just a bad module which is not that expensive and they can easily replace.

Thank you, that's just the kind of first hand info I was hoping for. I'll remember to check that next time it does it. I could also try toggling the option with alfaobd I suppose.

I installed the homelink transmitter and wired it according to the schematic for my truck and then had the sales code added. My new in the box transmitter operated my garage door about 3 times and then just stopped? I replaced the transmitter since the buttons no longer lit up. The new transmitter went in, worked for about two minutes and then quit just like the first. I tried some different stuff and chatted with guys here who had done the same thing and never figured it out so I just use the one from the garage opener manufacturer.

If you find something pls post.

Clearly it's getting more frequent, it did it again this morning. Same circumstances as before.

The compass still showed up, FWIW.
