We ordered this KZ in october before our last trip in our old Jayco Whitehawk. This one finally came in last night. We are looking forward to heading out this season and happy with the extra room we get from the dual opposing slides in the living area. This one weighs in at 1000lbs more than our white hawk (7500lbs), and the tongue weight is 960 compared to the 780 of the white hawk.

Yes, pulling it with my '19 1500, its about the biggest trailer I would tow with my 1500. The payload is 1680lbs and its only my wife and I and we travel light.

Very nice TT.

Gonna be pushing it with a 1500 IMO. What gears? The 3.21's only have about an 8200lb tow rating.

Ive done a lot of research this past year. I have 3.92 gears. I put in a class 5 hitch, added a hellwig rear sway bar and for now, i put in some timbrens until i figure out what air bags i want. The GCVW is 17,000 for my setup, with a trailer weight of 11,300lbs. We do not do any dry camping so i dont use the fresh water tank and our sites are always on full sewer or have a dump station so the blank tank is never full during travel.

We started out with a 26' TT initially but after 1 season we needed a little more room in the living area. The outside kitchen took up too much room inside so we went with this 30' KZ after some research, it has a dry weight of 7700lbs. Wife and I talked it over and said this will do for a few years until i upgrade my truck to a 3500 at which time we can upgrade the camper to a 5th wheel.

Actually, we just got a used 26' TT at the end of this past camping season. There was no way my poor little '04 Dakota was going to pull that thing (pulled our pop-up fine, though)! I went ahead and got a 3/4 ton since it is not my daily driver, even though my kids want me to take it everywhere instead of my Vibe. Can't wait to get out this spring.

that's going to be a lot to handle. I have a 31’ Forest River Rockwood that weighs 6200 empty. I have a leveling kit and Airlift HD airbags and I’m in the middle of a 4000 mile trip and some of it hasn’t been fun. Granted I have a 17 CC hemi with 3.92 so you may have a higher tow rating. I’m on this gen forum looking to see who’s pulling a 5th wheel hoping to change it up. I’m not enjoying this trip.

Thats strange, my jayco whitehawk was 6500lbs dry and it towed like a dream. What weight distribution hitch are you using?

Nothing to do but rummage thru the forums :driver:

We upgraded from a 2008 Chev Avalanche to a 2019 Ram Hemi 3.92 Crew Cab short bed. The Avalanche towed our 2018 Dutchman Kodiak without any issues. Trailer was only 5000 lbs with 750 tongue weight fully loaded. The Ram does not know there was a trailer behind us.

In January we upgraded the Trailer to a 2020 Surveyor Luxury 267RBS. < 6200 lbs dry weight with 750 lbs tongue also dry. So much more room! The war department is so happy.

We are using the same Equal-I-Zer hitch 10,000/1,000. The dealer did a great job installing and setting the hitch.

On the drive home on country roads it was an easy drive. On a short 2 day break-in camping trip, also country loads, but loaded for camping. The Ram towed it very easily.

Very happy with the combination.

My 04 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi is gasping so now looking at 6.4 Hemi's.....that should fix things. Lol20200521_170313.jpg

2019 Bighorn with 2.5" Motofab leveling kit, I have the 3.21 unfortunately. Just upgraded to a 22ft Cougar Half Ton. It is 5541 lbs dry so I figure I am about 6400 lbs when loaded. Using the E2 WDH and also put Timber Grove Bags with an Airlift Wireless One compressor. Truck has no problem pulling it but it is a little bit of a bear at times. Waiting on my F rated 12 ply tires with new wheels to deliver, as the stock tires are garbage and I know that is a lot of the issues. Also ordered a Hellwig sway bar to replace the hollow OEM one in the rear. If I could trade this in for a 3/4 ton I would do it tomorrow but I have to make it work for another year or two. I love the truck but the coils are a little suspect IMO. My truck has 8587lb towing and 1787lb Payload
Has anyone put the 50+% HD TufTruck rear coils on their 1500 yet and if so did it make a difference?

The pic at the RV lot is prior to the bags being installed, the pic in front of house is with bags and aired up to level ride height!

Picked up a 34' Heartland triple slide travel trailer this weekend. This is the only pic I have at the moment, just won't quit raining:

Nice. What are the weights? Let us know how that 6.4 pulls it. I pull our 9000lb boat with ours and my son pulls his 8000lb camper with his (we have identical trucks) and they both tow them with ease. He towed his 1500 miles to North Dakota and back and looks like he will have to be towing it to Baytown, TX in a few weeks (1300 miles).
