Saw this today when I was changing my oil. Its a plastic piece of some kind that's attached to the transmission. It's rubbing the drive shaft.

I vaguely remember news or forum coverage of a safety recall involving a heat or some type of splash shield not properly installed, causing it to rub on the driveshaft and cause more damage.

Have you checked the NHTSA.gov website for any potential recalls for your vehicle?

I have not. Didn't think of it.

Is it actually attached to the truck? Possibly a piece of road debris like a mudflap or something, that flipped up and got jammed in place?
