Unless you guys plan to run boost or nitrous often, then stay away from 3" duals. That is just too much piping for most guys and is going to hurt your tq down low. You need to be pushing alot of air to be able to gain from a dual 3" exhaust.

I just don't like how smaller piping sounds raspy like old ghetto chevys while 3" sounds deep and mean

I did a 3" magnaflow catback on my exs 09 and it sounded awesome. But I also own a ford lightning powered f150 and those trucks don't call for 3" exhausts until 600hp so I can see what you mean with the torque loss.

you have long tubes correct? You're going to get that "exhaust leak" type noise. The headers create a almost wind blowing noise. Like you are blowing through a bendy straw. Just the noise that gets made from them over stock due to the better flow.

Op yea i have true duel exhaust out the headers, into a mag x pipe. To two 14 mags. The two mufflers makes it quite/loud at the same time. I do how ever use the stock 2.25 piping after the mags to the tips 4x12s. After the headers into the mufflers is 2.5

I'm sure you're hearing the normal valve noise and explosions that the thinner headers allow to pass... This is one of the main reasons I stayed away from them on my G8 as a DD. Once it's my toy, headers are going on! :angels25:

You will see 5-10 peak hp and 5-10 peak tq gains with longtubes over shorties, but where they shine is that those gains are seen across a broader rpm band than with shorties. For instance...shorties might give you 15hp/15tq gain from 4500rpm-5500rpms, whereas the longtubes will give you 20hp/20tq gains from 3500-6000rpms. Having that extra power across a wider rpm band is what makes them perform so much better than shorties.
