So I received my adapters for the 9006 Hikari ultra bulbs to convert the base to H7. I had to drill a new hole for the set screw and ensure that they would be clocked the way I wanted when they were seated. In addition, I used some o-rings to tighten things up.
In the end, the adapted bulbs did not work well in the low beam housings but worked great in the high beams. The best beam pattern in the high beams was achieved with the plug wire in the 12 o'clock position for the Hikari Ultras. The low beams now have regular Hikari H7 bulbs in them and the best beam pattern was achieved with the plug wire in the 6 o'clock position.

Are they in your low beams? If so, maybe I'll try those next if I need them.I received my h7 adapter the other day. Don't need them now, I'm really happy with the katanas

I see they say 6500K. Are they kinda bluish? Any pictures of the output?Yup. They are a lot brighter than the Hikaris. Definitely brighter than a 35w hid kit

I really hate you guys, now I have something else to buy...thanks again!
I may have figured this out, I'll let you know for sure once my new bulbs are in.So driving with these smoked switchbacks for a while, I'm generally quite pleased, but two concerns:
1) Does anyone have an issue with the headlights not being horizontally aligned (rotated clockwise or counterclockwise too much)? You have an adjustment for vertical, but my passenger headlight does not have a level cut off beam and the cutoff is higher on the left than the right, rotated too much clockwise, and thus can't be perfectly even with the driver's side regardless of height.
2) Not being used to trucks, I notice that there is a LOT of beam wandering now that you can see the crisp cutoff. I usually have my headlights adjusted so that at a horizontal level its just below the average sedan height's side mirrors from about 20 feet away, but in this case there's so much see-sawing with the chassis that on acceleration, deceleration, and bumps you can see the beams really have a lot of vertical travel so am worried if I get really powerful HIDs or LEDs, that might end up having a strobe light effect unless I aim them down a lot, kind of defeating the purpose of being able to see further ahead. Thoughts?
Is there an easy way to relate which way you have these clocked within the housing?

I didn't notice until I had a projector cutoff for reference. I believe the little plastic retainer on them breaks after a while and allows it to spin as you tighten the bolt down. Easy enough to correct though and it's nice there is another adjustment I suppose?I'll have to check mine out. If had my headlights in and out a lot over the past few months messing with lighting options and I'd be surprised if they are spaced the same

Still a little off but much better. The Katana lows are great and the converted Hikari Ultras are great in the highs.

Question: will either the Hikari Ultras or the katanas fit as a direct swap without mods into the high and low beam as purchased?
M² Mods.
Which bulbs come stock in both versions for highs and lows?Yes. The katanas take a little extra work to get everything in because the wiring is pretty stiff but it all fits with plenty of room to spare
