I would like to know if there is a setting to keep the radio from turning on automatically when I start my truck. I ran some searches, but using a cell phone to browse doesn't work well for me. Any help would be appreciated.

That doesn't work. My 2013 and now 2014 are both the same.

The radio is part of the computer system. You can't shut it off. Only thing you can do is lower the volume to "0" before you shut the truck off.

Ok, so instead of starting a new thread, is there anyway to disable text messaging? Every time I get a text, it crashes my phone when the radio alerts me I have a text. I still need the function of Bluetooth for calls, but not text. My Wrangler allowed me to turn SMS on/off, but not sure if the Ram does.

For the record, I use a basic 'dumb' phone.

I went out on a limb and tried this method...

1) press and release the Uconnect phone button and say "setup, incoming SMS message announcement".
2) the prompt will tell you that it's on, would you like to turn it off. yes

Couldn't get it to respond! Wanted to keep switching me to XM.

I also tried deleting and repairing the phone. It only asked for access to my contacts and recent calls...it didn't ask about messages.

Unfortunately I do not. It only asks 1 of the 2 questions. I know the phone is older, and it does create a challenge, but uconnect should allow this option to be disabled without any hassle. I do not want to upgrade my phone just to stop text message notifications. :)

Dont know why it just posted me again, but ok :) ill just edit that out...

Anyway theres no option on uconnect that i know of. I agree that the notifications are all kinds of annoying tho... Is your truck still under warranty? id try complaining to the dealer.. Say its distracting your driving and you consider the option dangerous ;)

I noticed that it duplicated :) I am still under warranty, and I have emailed Chrysler. My next step will be the dealer, then contact uconnect. I should be able to use hands-free calling without text, and not have to upgrade to a smart phone.
