Anyway to put 2016 8.4 into a 2018?

I have a old 2016 8.4 U connect radio from my last Ram. It fits and connects to my 2018 but doesn't work.
Is there any software updates or patch cables to do this or is that old radio just a WTS item now?

Any 13-18 8.4 radio is interchangeable. It's possible that the connector wasn't seated properly.

Does it sound like it powers up? I don't think there is a external fuse on the radio itself

Define "doesn't work"? Does it have power? Is it just no sound? Does the screen come on?

It powers up and goes to the "power on the radio for the code"
The truck is running, it never gets to the screen for entering in the security code.
