My wife's 2012 Platinum with an Ecoboost was fast as ****. It outran my Hemi every time even as I was modding mine. Both trucks 4x4 and 3.55 gears. Even with a BD tuner on perf, CAI, PTB, catch can, 180 degree TS, Magnaflow, etc they were about even from a stop. From a roll I could pull her slightly. Very slightly. Then I got the Hemifever tune and then mine was faster. I would LOVE to drive a Livernois tuned EB.

Tuner or not, Id rather have the displacement and a Hemi. It just sounds better and has that V8 rumble. JMHO. Its the American way.

or a Bossted HEMI......

Like I said in the countless other ECOboost threads they are quick

Friends times with just a CAI and Tune

The guys at work were always curious about a new Ram 1500 hemi versus a new F150 ecoboost, and when I got mine we thought that we would see since another mechanic has an ecoboost. Both trucks are stock, but he doesn't want to race. I will have to tell them about this race.

Yeah, it all depends on what you prefer. A porche 911 turbo or an v8 vette. I just like the v8s, nothing at all wrong with turbo, tuned, 4,6 or 10 cylinders either.

V8 vs flat 6 Porsche maybe?? ;)

2014 Porsche Turbo S

3.8 liter flat six, Twin turbos, 560hp, 516torque

0-60 in 2.6 seconds

1/4 mile in 10.9 sec @ 123.7 mph

Lateral acceleration 1.04g average... :favorites37:

"...the 911 Turbo S is the fourth-quickest production car we've ever tested, behind the Veyron, Aventador, and McLaren MP4-12C."

This is the stuff that my dreams are made of (including the wet ones)!!!

It's a dream car for me! I can hardly imagine what it feels like to drive it... I had a 2008 Porsche Boxster (below) and that thing was amazing, but a joke compared to the 911 Turbo S.

Haha, your buddy with the ecoboost f150 is nervous. I was scared my friend would talk a bunch of trash if he raced me and won. I am glad I slaughtered him! I still respect his truck and I do like his truck. I am very passionate about trucks. My Ram is F***in siiiiiiick!!

Your buddy has to do whatever he can to race that f150. Come back here, and share the story.

I'm a diehard Mopar guy but the ecoboost furd trucks that "boost launch" I've seen, are incredibly fast. I'd like to see your buddy spool up and try you. Or rolling from a 30 with him building boost. I'd bet it would be a whole different race.

Keep in kind the design of the ecoboost engine. It's designed to work together as a system. Unlike remote turbo systems or aftermarket turbos that have hoses. The ecoboost engine is designed to have as little turbo lag as possible. The way it is mounted allows for exhaust gases and intake air to travel as minimal as possible. The idea of Turbo lag is more obvious on Diesel engines because of the lower RPM range that those engines operate in. So, honestly, I think it was a fair comparison. If he did spool up then it would have aided him. However, stock vs. stock, at a stand still, the hemi was a real performer.

Oh yeah, I love the Porches, but for half the price a vette would be fun for me too, LOL. Porche also had some v8s. I think the old 928s and maybe they made a new one. A German v8 probably sounds cool. I love the Indy car sounds.

Hemi vs ecoboost. I lived to tell the tale. I want all f150 owners to know, when they read this, there is a new sheriff in town.

Ecoboost is a mid 13 second truck with a tune. My ecoboost ran 14.53 stock. Fx2 3.15 2wd 20 inch rims.

Currently I have 3.55 6speed hemi, anyone know stock quarter mile on mine current set up ram?

Ran a 14.5 stock on mine. My buddies raptor has also seen defeat by my truck. He got me from the jump but reeled him in quick and pulled about 2 trucks on him lol it felt great for me cuz he's know for talking trash and being full of himself so it was priceless when i heard him say "you got me good" lol havent raced and ecoboost yet or even the 5.0 f150's. heard they are pretty fast aswell. Maybe one of u guys can shine some light on this from personal experience

Went in a test drive a couple of week ago in a brand new 2014 raptor, 6.1L. its performance is "meh" not very fast for such ****** gas mileage and a larger motor. Those things are built for "off road" not racing on pavement. My 2014 express hemi would pull away on that thing, not to mention the stock Raptor has huge tires (small rims) so there is a lot of extra unsprung weight to get rolling which slows them down.

I've seen the eco boosts… they are decent machines. A simple exhaust swap nets over 50hp gain since they use stock V8 triton exhaust systems (catback) on them. A eco boost with an exhaust and a tune would be a good race against the Ram.

The new BMWs run twin turbo V6s in the new M5s etc… they are okay as well but Ive raced against them at the drags in my firebird and they run mid 13s stock, not bad for a luxury 4 door but not what I would expect from a twin turbo V6. Not to mention my buddy just got a 2014 BMW M5 twin turbo and they handle great and pretty quick but my firebird would still eat him quickly.

I have raced 2 ecoboosts. One was stock, the other was tuned with intake, and catback ( Stage 3 Motorsports - Phase 2 kit). Both had 3.73's. I have 3.55's with a 6spd (20 inch wheels), with a rev-c Hemifever tune.

The stock ecoboost got me by a fender on a dig, and I pulled on him at 40mph and took a 2 truck lead to 100mph. 35mph roll i pulled 2 trucks and held to 100mph. these races were duplicated twice to ensure consistency.

The modded ecoboost from a dig launched like holy **** balls.. jumped a truck and a half on me and i slowly was reeling him in, but after 65-70mph I reeled him in like he wasn't even on the gas anymore and pulled a truck length at 75-80mph and we stayed at that till about 118-120mph where we just couldn't go any faster. from a 35mph roll it was almost identical except he did not jump on me as much from the start, but after 65-70mph i pulled away every time. This race was duplicated twice as well.

Moral of my story is a Hemifever tuned RAM is equal to a tuned ecoboost. I dont want to say my truck was faster, or he won, or I won. but they were just different, I want to say power-wise we were the same, it was gearing that made the difference in the race. However, if I had an 8spd with 3.92's I think it would of been very different.
