Whether it's a phone, computer, tv or vehicle...anytime I've done a software upgrade it was worse than before it was 'fixed'.
Unless you like your transmission slamming (and I do mean SLAMMING) into Park when you open your door while backing up a trailer, pulling onto ramps, etc, I wouldn't.

The autopark does engage when the door is open so I'm not losing anything just not sure what effect this would have on my warranty, if any. It does say recommended so I'm assuming this doesn't make it mandatory.

No recall is "mandatory" as far as I know. My truck is a 2015 and it has never been in for a recall or update.
