So with my new tailgate, I installed an aftermarket camera and tapped into the trucks factory wiring harness using this:

I used this camera:

Camera comes on and works flawlessly, I’m really happy with it. Weird thing is, I don’t have the parking guidelines anymore, even with the option selected on in the radio. Seems strange to make this a function of the camera, when you can turn them on and off in the radio, and they turn with the wheels. Just seems like a lot of unnecessary information to have to send to the camera. Is there any tricks to get the lines to come back, or am I SOL? Like putting a jumper in the harness somewhere so the truck thinks the OEM camera is still there, something like that. Thoughts?

It’s the lin bus wire from the BCM to the factory backup camera that makes the dynamic grid lines possible. Aftermarket cameras usually won’t be capable of receiving that signal. Some aftermarket cameras have a wire that you cut if you want grid lines to appear on the screen, but they won’t be dynamic. I’m not sure if the camera you got even has that feature.

Well poo. I purposely got a backup camera without lines because I didn’t want it to interfere with the trucks factory lines. No way to fool the radio I guess?

so your set up is after market not OEM installed product?
Correct, I replaced the OEM camera with an aftermarket one.

.
No, it’s a capability of the factory camera itself. Why the switch to the aftermarket camera in the first place?
