I'm looking at installing a DIY cargo camera and wanted to know if anyone can answer this question for me.

Often rear facing cameras are sold as "backup" cameras and have the image reversed/mirrored. Do our factory back up cams do this? I want the camera I purchase to have the same image as the factory backup camera but from a different vantage point (third brake light). I have looked and looked but for some reason I don't see it as reversed and I'm thinking that it is not "mirrored" or my perception is off. Any answers would be appreciated.

I installed the OEM mopar CHMSL cam in conjuction with the tailgate cam. I can toggle back and forth. I can turn the cargo cam on at will and even drive with it. That said the image in it is the same as looking in the rearview mirror, if that makes any sense.

Not sure if you have seen them but here is a pic of mine and of the screen.

That is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks!

Now I need to find a backup camera without the gridlines. I talked to Magnus at RAX and he said he'd sell me the whole (non-led) custom 3rd brake light for $89. I may just go this route if I can't find a cheap mirrored camera sans gridlines.
