The truck one day shut off pulling out the gas station.. the key wouldn’t read to roll the windows down turn the radio on nothing not even the locks worked I was lucky that I knew a tow truck driver that hooked me up with a tow for a doobie, after hours and hours of messing with it the truck eventually turned on perfectly fine fast forward to couple months later it started doing that more often and sometimes the key would get stuck in acc mode, after messing with it and jiggling it’ll come out.. to start the fight for it to start. the other day it was doing similar not starting but would pick up the key saying key in ignition then say wrong key back and forth it eventually turned the accessory power on a few times but quit. The truck would also respond to lock and unlock functions the whole time. Now the truck won’t pick up the key at all again but the lock and unlock function work I’m not sure if it’s the rf hub or Ignition switch? I also have had the truck kill itself because the cluster will stay lit after exiting the vehicle

I'd say start with ignition. I "think" there is a proximity sensor in it for the FOB. Even with it just getting stuck it's a good place to start as it's obviously worn.

It definitely sounds like the RF Hub. I'm dealing with trying to get my new one installed, but when I bought it used. I had a fob that didn't register in the vehicle, but I could push the corner of the fob to start the truck. I tried programming more keys and none would work because apparently there is a near field communication sensor that fails, while the remote still works from far away. So I can remote start, but I still have to push the key to the ignition to drive.

I bought a brand new rf hub but can’t connect using alpha on the new one or old one

Have you scanned the vehicle for any DTCs? This has a high smell of low-voltage issues, albeit short intervals of low voltage or an intermittent common ground. I suspect that if you read the codes, you would see several "lost communications with ..."; it is worth a look and see.

I was thinking the same thought.

Scanning for DTCs first could explain everything.

A low B+ at the RF Hub could create these issues. A low battery voltage or compromised power connection at the RF Hub.

I would load test the battery with a toaster-style battery load tester like this $18 device from HarbourFreight.

Also, confirm all battery connections are clean and snug.

If you haven't found anything irregular with the above, expose the RF Hub and confirm the connections, especially the Ground and B+.

Just updating for anybody else that I did get my truck running once I replaced the rf hub.
Thanks for updating! Too many threads end without resolution!
