Howdy, I've got the base 6-speaker system with only the phone oriented buttons on my steering wheel. I also have the backup camera.

I've been trying to compile notes on what adapters and such I'll need to retain the camera and the steering wheel phone functions and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed so I was hoping to get some direction.

The primary features I want in an HU are apple carplay with waze support. I found a few double-din decks under $400 but beyond that is when I get into trouble.

Can someone explain what adapters and such I'll need to ensure my camera and steering wheel buttons still work?

Thanks a TON in advance.

I’m in the middle of this research, too. Looks like we’ll need the iDatalink Maestro and the CH3 adapter at minimum. Throw in a USB adapter to retain the USB port. Crutchfield will do a good job of showing you what you need if you input your truck’s info.

Thanks a lot, this is exactly what I was looking for. Do you currently have a head unit in mind?

I’m leaning towards a Kenwood dmx7706s. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DMX7706/Kenwood-DMX7706S.html?tp=72357

it’s got idatalink, and was just released this year. I’ve used some older car play units and they were laggy, so I’m aiming for a newer one. I’ll probably pair it with a kicker key 180.4 amp and get a decent set of components for the front and only amp those.
