I'm hoping for an answer on this .....2012 5.7 Hemi. I got looking at the "data list" and observed an intersting item. It shows Base Spark as a -33.50, yes, that is a minus sign in front of the spark value. Is this normal or is there something wrong.

Where are you pulling this info from?

I have an Ancel 4000 Code Reader that is capable of pulling running data from the PCM. Over all it is a decent tool BUT dealing with the vendor for updates, well, lets just say, that is another story.
It can display data for diagnostics and OBD II info as well.

still hoping for an answer to the puzzle. I'm guessing that I'm not the only one to experience this problem.

Not all code readers have the ability to display the PCM data correctly. I know exactly what you are seeing. I have a Bosch glorified code reader and it does the exact same thing with some of the PID's in the data list. When I am using the WiTech or my Snap-On or Autel scan tools they will show the base spark as something like 18° or 12° or whatever the actual number is with the engine running.

Maybe your scan tool is wonky. If it's pulling 33 degrees of timing,it wouldn't even run,or if it did,it'd be back firing out the tailpipes with flames.
Well, I thought about that so I tried it on another vehicle and it read correctly. I've used that scanner on other vehicles but I've not had the opportunity to try another truck from that it

Yes, with timing that late it should run like crap, but then again it does. Doesn't seem to have the power it once had and fuel economy dropped from22 - 23 down today- 12. That literally happened from one tank to the next. I'm running out of ideas.

Bad fuel & scan tool???
Check a known good running vehicle with scan to confirm it's reading correctly.

You sure that screens not scratched or thats a lil dirt on there. That looks like a -. As said above it wouldn’t start like that. Or were you reading this while at max rpm & full boost. Maybe that’s it. Idk.
