I can't speak for all jumper packs, but for my Noco GB50

Before it closes the relay to put power across the cables, it checks the connection for resistance and will refuse if there is a short circuit, or if there is infinite resistance. It also will refuse to provide power if you have the cables connected backwards. It's safe for wifes/daughters/GenZ. (no offense if you are a wife/daughter or GenZ).

Also, if you long press the power button, it will override the safeties and force the relay closed, so you can basically use it like an old school battery or jumper cables. It makes a decent power source for diagnosing or testing actuators, solenoids, etc.

I have two of them.
Thanks

I was NOT aware of everything these jump packs do.

I have a Clore Jump n Carry JNC770 and have used it for years. It is heavier then any of the lithium glove box size start packs but it works well. I also use it for bench testing 12v items. I think if someone is into the Milwaukee Tool M18 line, their new "Hotshot" is a nice item. It is designed for "starting" and not constant power. I know several people that have them and they have been very happy with them. Many options available, find one that suits your needs.

If I was browsing Amazon for a jumper pack and spotted that, the name might have put me off a little. NexPow sounds a little ominous. :anitoof:

But, then, I was shopping on Amazon the other day for some sweatpants and ordered some of these. They looked pretty comfy.

I bought a JNC 660 from Amazon for about $200.00 CDN.

The battery only lasted for two years and then stopped taking a charge, very disappointing.

The replacement JNC battery costs about the same as a new unit so I bought an aftermarket one for $90.00, no idea how long that one will last.

It won't last as long as you'd like it to.I had one of those, after 2 battery replacements in 4 years,i threw it away when it needed another battery.

I've never used a boost pack, my concern with them is I'd want to keep it in my vehicle 24/7 and with canadian winters it may not stay charged. I boost cars, truck, cranes with my truck, I have 0/1 run to a winch connector that I can use for my winch or a set of clamps I made.

My Noco GB50 claims to be good for up to 30 jump starts and a full charge, on gas engines up to 7 liter.

Even if it lost 75% of it's charge capacity, it would still likely have enough juice to start your car at least a couple times.

Project Farm just put up a new Jump Box video yesterday (I think he has 3 total now, one every couple of years):
https://youtu.be/AXXuWL3l5qo?si=SE04dEdwYQAvx98r

it includes the top ones from previous videos as well as the Milwaukee M18 one.

The Noco has top performance, but is also more expensive and does not have an inflator.

I personally have 2 yaber autos and one Gooloo that I bought based on his videos, and can confirm they work well. I do like the compressor function on the Yaber Autos.

I have also given a NexPow one to a friend based on Amazon Reviews before I found Project Farm, and it has worked when needed.

*Username checks out. :Big Laugh:

Wow. That Yaber's performance was impressive. Makes me glad that at least I got my Noco on sale!

I don't think I've ever seen the combination of jump starter and inflator perform so well in such a small package. In the last 10 years or so I've needed a jump starter several times but the only time I needed an inflator was for my riding mower. Even so at $81 I would likely have bought it instead of the Noco ($149 on sale for $99).
I could have almost bought 2 Yabers.

Milwaukee M18 tire inflater is what I run. That thing is a beast. My buddy literally took a 12 gauge to his pos DeWalt one after trying mine ;)

I can fill 4 aired down 35s on one battery when wheeling.
