A mechanic at Firestone was about to change out the battery on my Ram

He tested the Old one, while it was still in the Ram
he checked the new one, before it was installed

He did several other things & i inquired why he did not just remove the Battery Posts
then jerk out the old battery & replace it.

He Simply stated, as he worked, that the proper way to make the Switch Over, was to add a Jumper while there was no battery connected.
I was thinking of something like a small Jump Pak ??

( I recall something about a Ram holds a charge when a battery is disconnected & the way to completely discharge the vehicle, was to leave a door ajar or the Lights ON )

The way he was doing it, was Preparation so that the Battery switch was very minimal in Time.

I don't think that from the time he removed the Negative Post from the old battery, to when it was put on the new battery was 3 minutes.

i read something similar to what he was talking about.
I don't know if it applies to 4th Gen Ram DS

When IBS is disconnected from the battery, the device loses its stored memory. When power is restored, the IBS starts a relearn process. Until the relearn process is complete, accurate battery state information is unavailable to other vehicle systems. The IBS relearn process requires three to five normal, operator initiated starts with at least eight hours of engine off time between each start. Usually, the process takes a few days of vehicle operation to complete.

That might be correct. As a professional, I do not, and cannot throw fate to the wind.
Number one: Extremely FEW people say to themselves during half-time of their favorite football venue: "Hey! My truck's battery is 3 years old; I think I'll replace it BEFORE computer program files become corrupt due to capacitance, low overall state of charge", etc
and go out and buy a battery BEFORE the algorithms inside the vehicle become askew enough to induce illogical "U" codes and other phantom DTC's. And before several jump starts have been done.

"Resetting" the system and driving through 3 or more consecutive cycles might make sense to you or me, but try to get a customer to not only understand the procedure, but to ACTUALLY do it in order and properly. They simply DON'T.

My next door neighbor replaced his battery in his 2019 Big Horn 5.7L Texas double chubby chuck luxo-mobile. after 2-3 weeks of driving it, his CEL stayed on as did the traction control light. I went over with my DOIP scanner (Diagnosis Over Internet Protocol), logged into my Auto Auth account and gained access to the Gateway, and was able to calibrate the state of charge of the new battery into the PCM, and properly erase the DTC's in ALL of the CAN/BUS modules. It took literally a few minutes...
