Battery light

My battery light is on on 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 I’ve replaced the alternator and the battery and it’s still on. Any tips on what it could be?

IBS which is on the negative battery terminal? Just a $0.02 guess.
What is the voltage at the battery while the engine is running?

I do not know what the voltage is at while running. I’m not really a car person. I just purchased this in an as is deal from a used car dealership.

Take it to an auto store and have them check battery, charging system and also under a load, and report back.

I just called the Carquest on Rock Blvd, they and also O'Reilly's do the free testing. Good place to start.

EDIT: O'Reilly is showing 9 locations in the Reno area.

Truck died on my way to oreillys. All my warning lights came on then the truck shut off. Could it be a bad regulator on the alternator? I bought a remanufactured alternator.

Wow, That plan is blown to bits.
I guess anything is up for grabs without troubleshooting or a diagnosis.

A different vehicle but same idea, my 2008 Civic died and left my wife on the side of the highway. Towed to a shop. They were able to troubleshoot to a battery failure that did permanent damage to the alternator, both were old. Had to replace both at same time.

I'm not an experienced, trained mechanic. If you aren't either, get it to someone who is. You may need to replace something but a good shop should keep costs to a minimum.

A bad battery will destroy the alternator, and a bad alternator will destroy an otherwise good battery.

I think his 2012 doesn't have the IBS fuse,i think that didn't come into play until 2013 ,when the trucks were revamped.

OP go get yourself one of these old school toaster style battery testers,and test your battery yourself. The newer digital testers aren't as good at testing a battery as these old guys are.
