I'm really wanting long tubes, but the only things that slow me on jumping on a set are the tuner thing - the bricking trucks scares me with some units, and the unknown of emissions in the country - province... Yes e-testing got dropped, but everyday there are so many things about the climate change hoax, the people with agendas pushing it. They want gas users to pay and go to hell, so if they get their way...??? who knows what happens???

So with the shorty headers, it appears BBK has issues. So that leaves JBA (coated 409 ss) and AFE (304 ss) and ****** (409 ss) and it's almost log style shorty. So whats the best header?? Like "good, better, best"???

The AFE are 409, not 304, per AFE website. I went with JBA shorties and have a titanium ceramic coated set in my garage right now. I hope to install them this weekend. Fingers crossed that install goes ok and they last a good while. I'm going to use Remflex gaskets and JBA bolts.

I'm sorry, OP and others, about those BBK headers. I don't know what else to say, but that sucks.

I had bbk shorties, 2 sets actually and sent both back to amazon and got jba long tubes. Both had bad welds on the flange where pipes come out. Longtube headers I like way better!!! No cat

Man those BBKs look like poo and they don’t look fun to install. I would coat anything you put on the exhaust and it has to be ceramic coating and not powder coat. Chrome is not an exhaust coating and it’s not even a good rust preventative coating.

I just got a set of ****** black hearts, look super easy to install and they are 409SS which I’m not thrilled about but it’s better than mild steel. Best part is they don’t need any mods to the valve cover or heat shields and all the bolts are super accessible. I just blasted and coated them 2 days ago with creakote ceramic coating inside and out. Stuff is cheap and it’s an air cure version so u just let it dry for 24hrs and install (full cure 5 days). Good for 2000+*F and stuff is stupid strong and should let these 409SS headers last a Long time of the coating doesn’t get damaged. I have used this stuff on turbos and turbo systems which generate the hottest exhaust temps and it still looks great!

So it’s another option for you guys, headers are like $450 and only come bare I think. The coating is $35 for 4 oz which I could easily do 2 sets as i used about .75oz each header to coat inside and outside. I also picked up some ARP 304SS header bolts for the ram so hopefully no broken bolts as they are stronger than the stockers. Once u coat them you don’t need to wrap them and it retains heat and keeps them from rusting.

I have BBK ceramic coated shortys on my 2013 V6 Mustang. Now a Mustang doesn’t operate in the harsh conditions that a truck does. But the BBKs on the Mustang still look new.

I’m not exactly sure which shortys I have on the truck. I got them at Moe’s. Buy your stuff at Moe’s and you don’t have to worry about anything. At least that’s been my experience.

Here you go. I got what I paid for I guess. Going back stock for me I guess because there’s no way I’m paying 2g for an exhaust header!

That sucks. Or you could spend $500 for any of the 409 SS headers. You put the stock manifolds back on and ur more than likely going to pop a bolt, get a leak and then have to pay or get out the broken bolt yourself (or multiple bolts). Up to you.

WOW, I have the BBK shorty's on mine with no issues so far about 16 months. I'll keep a closer eye on mine now. I've been thinking of eventually going long tube with a true duel exhaust.

So here’s the drivers side header. I’m replacing with stock. There was two holes in the bbk shorty. Both on the same port. The rest of the header seemed in good shape. Again..installed 16 months ago or so I installed them.
In order to remove the headed with access to the bolts I had to use a recip saw to cut it apart.

Did you have fender liners on?

Can’t believe those corroded that bad/quickly. Great idea on the sawsall, they’re trash so just make your life easier.
