Hey everyone. New to the site and had a question regarding the bed anchors for the 5th wheel hitch anchors. I do not have a 5th wheel, but I haul a kayak around and I have a set of bunks I made out of unistrut and pvc pipe. I need to figure out a way to anchor it to the bed but do not want to drill holes to put anchors in the bed.

I have the stock anchor points in my 2500 but I also don’t want to pay $180-200 for the stock anchors. I can’t strap it to the side rings on the bed walls because I have no down force that way and when I slide the kayak out, the front raises up which I don’t want.

I thought about putting two pieces of unistrut sideways on the bed over the 5th wheel anchor points and then I can attach the bunk rails to the unistrut, but still don’t know how to anchor those to the 5th wheel anchor points.

So I’m wondering if anyone has made any diy anchors for the anchor points out of bolts and any other hardware.

Pictures show the bunk rails on the wall, unistrut is the bottom, abs is the top. Second picture shows it on my racks for when I haul the kayak and my travel trailer. But shows how it sits on the bunk rails.

Thank you.

Are you asking how to mount the uni-strut in the bed? Can you get some simple perforated square tube and put two horizontal pieces bolted to the 5th wheel bolt region?

Sorry if I'm reading your intentions wrong..

What do you mean by anchor points? Do you have aftermarket fifth wheel rails that bolt to the bed and run side to side, or do you have the factory puck system? If you have the rails it should be relatively easy, but if it's the puck system it's a bit tougher. I'm sure with some ingenuity someone would figure something out. The puck system is basically a cam system with a locking pin to keep the anchors from being able to spin past a certain point.
