Lmao ya beat me to it. But yeah it’ll do it. Espically for a short slow trip. These trucks wont just break once you go over max weight. Or tires won’t fall off once you’ve maxed weight. Sometimes a little common sense goes a long ways. I wouldn’t drive down the highway at 75mph for a couple hours. But then most people would know that too.

One time trip. Skid of floor tile weight slip said 2,208. Pushed to the cab for better weight distribution. Also had axle to frame airbags aired up to keep a slight rake. I still had stock GY Wrangler SRAs. Tires aired up to Mfg stated max carrying capacity which I believe was 5 psi below max inflation.

If only half that was on my drive axle I would have been a few hundred under max axle & well under max tire rating.

Short trip on Hwy it felt a lil sloppy & overloaded but not stupid. Only had factory sway-bar. Bigger sway bar stiffer springs and load tires would have done wonders. Better yet an HD truck but it was a one time load. Better still a small utility trailer rated for it. I left plenty of assured clear distance. So no problems but A panic stop or an emergency swerve would have been scary.

I put a 2000 poud pallet of pellets in the bed of my 1500 and another 2000 pound pallet on a trailer behind me and put it in the wind. I do run 10 ply tires. I also pull a trailer with 8 2000 lb round bales of hay it doesn't seem to bother it. It puts my brother in law 3/4 ton Chevy to shame.

There are no stupid questions! they're just load supports. rather, they are glorified bump stops that you install right where the stock ones are. instead of a littel nub of rubber, they are about 10 times the size. they act a little bit like air bags once they make contact with the axle.

airbags are better if you are hauling and/or towing a variety of loads. but timbrens are so simple to install, that's why i went with them.

Two loads and just be safe. If it is only a 15 minute ride, even more reason to do two. I carried as full damp pallet of Augustine grass a month or so ago and was probably over by a small amount. Won't do that again. Like the one fella said, was more concerned about the tires than the bed or anything else. Pop one tire once and you will understand why !!

If you are doing it infrequently I'd say you are ok, but it does have an impact. I've been building a home in a remote area and my rear coils are shot now. Any weight I get a pretty bad shimmy in the truck and right down to bump stops . If you are hauling that amount of weight just try and keep under 50 mph.

I'm putting new coils, shocks, and air bags in, and already did a Hellwig sway bar. 3200 in stone one trip, then towing 13k worth of trailer and excavator another. I'm very impressed with my 1500, but really should have a 2500.

I broke a leaf spring on my 2003 Ram 1500 putting too heavy a load on it. My 2016 Big Horn has coil springs but I wouldn't over load it. Why take a chance ? If it's just a 15 minute trip, I'd make two trips. I really love my truck and have been accused of babying it.

Left out a lot of info. Year, engine, bed length, cab config. 2018 Ram 1500's can carry between 1380 & 1800+ based on model details. Older trucks are generally a little less each year. Everybody does what your talking about once in a while. Watch out for railroad tracks, washboard roads, way off-camber turns, etc. & take it easy. Also, remember if you're in collision and you're overweight, you're wrong even if everything else is good; especially if injuries occur. Good luck.

If you can rent a small trailer its much easier on your truck. If you can't.. stack the bags between the cab & the rear axle to help keep the weight centered between the axles best as possible. Some weight could even be put on the back cab floor. Stock 4th gen Good Year Wrangler SRAs had a max load capacity of 2,601 each at 39 psi not the max inflation of 44 psi. (a common misconception)

So if the truck and you weigh 6k and you add 1,760 pounds you are at 7,760 far from the combined 10,400 of tires if weight were equally distributed. That said you don't want to be anywhere near that. Even combined max axle is only 7,800 again if weight is equally distributed. 7,800 is more of a hard number that you don't want to exceed as you are at the limits of your brakes and suspension even with helper bags.

Not judging or preaching doom as my tile load was 8k just saying.

Agreed. I'm not one who's in the "you need a one ton dually/half tons can't tow anything" crowd, but in this case, yes he NEEDS a 3/4 ton truck.
