Curious if anyone else has seen the plastic box rail caps bulge in the summer heat?
For me both sides are doing this. When the temps climb the plastic sticks up in the middle. Is there anyway to fix this? Or should I just replace the caps on both sides?

Ok snapped some pics last night.
It was much cooler yesterday so the bulge is somewhat minor. In the hot sun the gap can get to be 2-3 times as big.

Not sure if there is a fix or if i just need to replace the plastic?

I got two new rails from the dealer for $90 total. Easy enough to replace. Was worth it before I put the new tonneau cover on

That's so weird my guess would be you bed cover pulling on the sides but not sure temperature in the summer are in the 90's and get close to 100 but I don't have a cover and I've never had that problem

That happened on my last truck too (F150). I ultimately just learned to live with it. I would opt for new rails now.

I have been looking for the caps online cause the previous owner drilled holes in them

I guess I need to contact the dealer

Appreciate the replies. I'll likely just have to replace the rails. When they bulge in the heat it just looks ridiculous.

I had the same problem. Dealer replaced them last summer under warranty however the new ones are starting to do the same thing. Dealer stated that it's due to the tonneau cover.

Interesting.
My warranty is long gone so its up to me to replace these. Did they happen to say how the tonneau cover did this? I have the Truxedo Low Pro QT cover currently.

Had mine replaced under warranty. Started again, not too bad yet but disappointed nonetheless. Looks like a stiffer plastic would be beneficial.

Basically the side rails that the cover attaches to puts tension on the rail caps. Like I said, the replacement ones are starting to do the same although after a year they aren't nearly as bad as the original ones over the same time period.

I too looked at the aftermarket ones although couldn't find anything that I liked and certainly didn't want chrome on my Sport. If anyone has seen any in a powdercoat send me a link.
