Is it really that easy and clean looking? Sometimes those How-To videos are done by professionals and make things look way better than than most people will achieve.
What they usually don't show you is the cheap lacing (not necessarily from this vendor) that rips when you're tugging on it and 3/4 of the way done.

Yeah, definitely no cheap lacing from wheels kind. That stuff will cut through your hands when pulling it tight long before it breaks. Lol
I'm not going to say how I know this for a fact..... Lol

Update on my $5 mod. Will get to the engine cover and brake cap, maybe go with lettering decal that would add $15, and spray the sides white, leaving the middle black with white letters.

I'm digging the engine paint. I've seen someone online a while back that did their durango srt under the hood and looked really good. I'm hoping to do something similar to my ddsrt spring time.

I'm not familiar with spray paint let alone paint that would hold up to the heat from an engine. My neighbor says to use a 2 part spray paint ( comes in cans where you pop it I was told), but he didn't give me any advice on prep etc.

Any steps/advice you could give?
Prep, paint type, finish coat?

I want to dress up my engine bay. I like how the classic mopar had the colors in the engine. I’m hoping to make mine black and white. Have seen the painted covers and like that look. Also was looking for some different things on the google machine and found a billet kit, looks really good, but not cost effective for me. So I decided to paint a cap to see how it looks and if it holds up. Scuffed it up a bit and used some good outdoor paint that I had lying around. Actually it’s paint and primer, easily accessible on the shelf at cents over $5 with tax. Anyway here it is, I’m going to give it a few days and then adjust paint or continue with the same.

Here’s the start of what I’ve done. I don’t think the pieces I painted, or the engine cover will get hot enough to matter. I used rust oleum 2x paint and primer. Used some fine old sandpaper I had laying around, lightly scuffed and painted one piece, several light coats and left it there to see if the paint would stand up to the temp, before I painted more. It did. This is just what I did, proceed at your own risk!

There are a couple of threads dedicated to the subjeect. Here's one of them for some ideas & suggestions. https://www.ramforum.com/threads/painted-engine-cover.161544/
