Okay, here's a curveball to think about!!!!

My 23' Warlock 4th Gen (bought new in Feb 24') - I have always used the OEM MOPAR one-piece rubber flex wipers as I like the aesthetics of them and they have always served me well (especially in my previous bought new 19').

Typically I have replaced them annually in the late spring/early summer as I drive a lot, especially on the highway, and the wipers get peppered with road debris, etc.

So, in my 23' Warlock specifically, I've had to replace these same wipers every six months or so because a smearing pattern develops in the center of the windshield/center of the blades. But these center mass smears only start about 3 to 4 months after new installation and then considerably worsen until about the six month mark and I can't stand it anymore and have to replace them.

Okay, some may attribute this to "road grime / buildup on the glass or wiper blades, etc.", but those who know me here realize I'm on the high-side level of ensuring that my vehicle is in top tier condition. So, abnormal buildup on my windshield or blades isn't a contributing factor to this scenario in my opinion.

So, based on the overwhelming recommendations of the BOSCH ICON wiper blades on this thread, I just bought a set today ($31 each plus tax here in Canuck-Land). I'll be doing a thorough glass cleaning using an ammonia based shop glass cleaner from DOW, too - I borrowed a spray can from a friends automotive glass shop to ensure that there are no road grime oils, etc. on the glass after a thorough cleaning ;)

If I don't get more than 4 to 6 months out of these BOSCH ICON blades, then this is pointing me towards my windshield having some sort of deficiency. If that's the case my insurance policy covers brand new OEM branded glass on any part of my truck, so it'll receive a new windshield.

Any thoughts as to why this continues to occur on this truck?
For reference, this was never the case on my (bought new) 19' Express - just this 23' Warlock.

I've tried probably over a dozen brands and models and bosch icon seem to be best. What are your experience? I didnt have good luck with my OE blades the truck came with.

My pickup is now 5 years old and my wife's Grand Cherokee is 6. Both vehicles have about 40,000 miles on them and both still have the original wipers. It doesn't rain or snow all that often when I am driving so they don't get much use in an average year. No idea why they would need to be changed every year, but they are also both parked indoors.

When they do need changing I will likely use Bosch.

Amazon specials work just fine for me. Bought my last set in June of 23 for my work car that sees everything in the 30-40k miles I put on it a year. It's only garaged on the weekends when I'm home. Around the same time I replaced the ones on the truck with some cheaper ones on rockauto, but that gets driven less then 5k a year. No complaints with either.

I do wash all the windows with rain x water repeller/window cleaner every 1-3 months depending on how fast the windows get dirty.

Perhaps look at Aquapel vs RainX.

RainX is a glass treatment that goes on/over the glass like a wax.

Aquapel is a glass treatment that chemically bonds to the glass - was originally designed for the aviation industry.
Once a year treatment, and no wipers needed whatsoever when driving highway speeds in rain, especially heavy rain.

I use the lightest blades I can find. Then I spray em with rainX. A place called Ollie’s has Michelins for like $6.00. So that’s what I’m using now.

Rainx wiper fluid can cause problems with the washer tank and pump gelling up.
I have used rain X in the upper midwest for many years that saw subzero temps every winter and never once did I or my wifes Dodge/Ram vehicles have a gelled pump problem or a frozen one, below is a photo of what i used for 10 years:

It's not freezing, it's turning to sludge clogging the pumps and ruining the low fluid level sensor. There's been a lot of threads about it over the years.

Rain-X have been great. Ran Costco Michelin for years before realizing they are crap. Love Michelin tires but they must make the wipers from the crap on the floor.

I used to get aquapel at Walmart now you have to order a 8 pack. Have not been able to find single packs near me. Bugs up here in the up seam to really eat up the wipers. I started using bugs b gone by Sea Foam. Best thing I've found to get the bugs off.

Where can a guy buy this stuff at boss?
Hey, Brother...

I've been using this product for many years and it's never let me down.
This will show you were you can purchase it in your area ;)

I also apply it to my side windows, back window and my side mirrors as well.
I use two applicators in total for the entire job.
1 x applicator for the front windshield by itself
1 x applicator for the rest of the glass & mirrors on the truck

I have family in the automotive glass & upholstery business and was taught how to apply it well so it really bonds.
- Don't do it in direct sunlight, but a nice warm day under a car port, or warm day with some overcast cloud is good

- Ensure you thoroughly clean the glass (I use an commercial grade glass cleaner from DOW that also has ammonia in it) - you want to ensure there is no road grime / road oils on the glass ;)

- Remove the wipers (also a good time to put new ones on if it's been a while) - and wrap a microfiber or some foam over the wiper arm hooks just in case it snaps back and hits the windshield when you're do the application

- set up a stool or chair on either side of the truck so you can quickly get up and down to reach the windshield (this stuff is fast acting and dries on the applicator, so ensuring you're set up and ready to go beforehand ensures that you're getting all the product to your windshield)

- Shake the applicator well and then snap the butterfly tabs together to break the vile of the other chemical inside the applicator - shake it well (it's a 2-part chemical reaction - you'll see some mist coming out of the applicator pad & this is normal - don't breathe it in - pretty potent smell and heavy chemicals ;))

- Start on drivers side and do an up and down motion from center glass to the drivers side a-pillar - then do the same on the passenger side

- Drivers side again & go back & forth from center to drivers side a-pillar - then passenger side in the same way

- Drivers side again and go in a clockwise circular motion from center to drivers side a-pillas - then passenger side in the same way

- Finally, drivers side and go counter clockwise, and then passenger side in the same way

- Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes (it'll start to dry, but will still have visible wetness on the glass (but no hazing), and this is good. Direct sunlight bakes it on and inhibits the etching/bonding characteristics to really penetrate into the glass

- With a new clean microfiber start to wipe the glass starting with the drivers side - using the same cloth go to the passenger side and do the same

- Final part is another new clean microfiber and you then buff the glass - and the job is done!!

Sounds like a hassle, but it's easy and not too time consuming. This method just ensures that the product is being applied to the glass in the best way so it fills in and bonds to any pitting/scratches, etc. and really gets into the glass.

If you're not using your wipers all the time, especially on the highway at speed, the application will last a year for sure.

The trick is to look past the windshield when it's raining, especially on highway at speed as the water literally rolls off the glass quick. I rarely use my wipers on the road and highway as I can see just as clear without the wipers on.

** As for applying the product on all the rest of your glass and mirrors with the other applicator
- Again, make sure everything is clean and prepped

- To stretch this one applicator I just start on the drivers door glass and go back & forth - then the rear - the the passenger sides - then the back glass - and finally the mirrors - as the applicator pad starts to dry out and lose product I'll go back to the drivers side and wipe the applicator to pick up some wet product and dispense it wherever I need to touch up some spots and mirrors

- Same thing for wait time and how to wipe & then buff it all off.

Driving in rain with everything done is nice as the water rolls of everything, including the mirrors

Let me know how you like the stuff after you apply and get some driving in the rain.

Saying one or the other is "great," or the "best," does not define how the blades are being judged. My truck will be eight years old in May and the factory originals were quiet and completely effective for the first three plus years. The Mopar replacements, which I've tried, are not the same as the factory versions which are considerably more expensive.

I've tried most of the brands mentioned here and frankly find them in one respect or another, unworthy of their price. Some time ago my dealer gave me a pair of off-brand blades sold as Mighty Aero Tech Select (TSA24) to try. Mighty is a dealer price-point leader brand (I've haven't found them anywhere else) that carry air and oil filters, neither items I would ever use.

At $6 a piece I have found I get about 2.5 years out of them with excellent performance. On a cost-benefit ratio these are most certainly the best I've found. The most disappointing blades I've ever used were $60 but I don't remember the brand.

Dusty

I've been monitoring this thread and searching reviews for most of the brands mentioned.

As far as owner satisfaction in reviews and price point, I'm going to try these Parrati wipers.

At $17 US/pair or $24 CAN/pair (that's the same price after the exchange, unlike most that are 35%-50% more + the exchange), how can I go wrong?

The popular Bosch Icon are $30 each up here. Nuts!
