I thought about putting 35x 12.5's on my new 2020 PW, but ended up going with 285/75R17 Trail Grapplers. Pretty much an inch taller than stock size. I personally like the look. I see a lot of trucks in my area with big 35"+ tires that stick out past the fenders. They kinda look like giant skateboards and 90% of them look like they never have been off-road. I understand the younger guys liking the look, but I see a lot of guys my age(50) with them as well. Am I the only one that likes the tall skinnier tire look that don't stick out? I also like the fact the 11.5's seem to cut through water a little better for a less floaty feel. Is this just a fashion statement? Thoughts? FO? :)

For 35" inch and up tire size on the 17" wheel there is little available (one choice) for tall and skinny on our Power Wagons. Going even narrower than the OEM 285 width with a 35 10.50R17 Kenda Klever R/T would be it.

Going to 35 12.50R17 tires next month on my Power Wagon. Tire size availability and its function are the reason I am changing sizes from running a 285 75R17, not for looks.

Trailmaker made me feel bad about my 35” tires on 20” wheels so I have updated to 37” on a 17” wheel. They don’t stick out past the flares.

Goldilocks and the three tire sizes?

With different tire sizes come advantages and disadvantages. Weight, flotation, clearance, towing & hauling capabilities, braking, acceleration. Noise. Availability. Cost.

There is no right or wrong, everyone’s needs / wishes are different. All tires are a compromise. And fodder for endless discussion. :D

Please carry on. :happy160:

And you will appreciate the extra rubber. And the way it absorbs the bumps in the road better and the ability to air down even more. And to not scuff your rim on the curb anymore! Looks Good!!

I believe offset on rims chosen by some are an unintended mistake. Not all. Some like to sling crap of the side of their truck. I wanted a flush offset. So I chose not to go with wheel spacers when I when 35/12.5. There is some stability advantages for the wider stance plus clearance in the wheel well if you go 37s. If I went wider I would prefer wider fender as well.

It depends on your thoughts as myself did it and didnt realize that I was going from a 35lb tire to a 80lb tire and the extra weight resulting in a loss of 2-3 miles to a gallon. The truck looks cool, but more money at the pump.

The "Stick out" thing is not just the tires, it's also a new wheel and/or a spacer between the wheel and hub. It's the thing for kids these days. Tall tires don't usually "stick out". Find the tire size guides out there via Google and you can learn the difference on sizes and why some tires are taller and/or widers than others.

I'm personally going to up to only 1 size taller on my next set. That will increase the tread width a very small amount, but it will be noticably taller.

Well I don’t know what age you are considering kids but I’m 35 and I myself prefer the “skateboard” look. Not 6” like some of these trucks but a couple inches look good to me. I’m gonna be changing from 18x10 with 325/65 to 20x12 with 37x13.50s.

Pretty limited options for either the 35x10.5/17 or the 275/80R17, but if you're willing to go 255/80R17 (33.1") you get a whole bunch of options in tread type, usage, and manufacturer. There are also several sizes similar to it, like a 285/75R17 for 33.8" diameter.

Check out https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ and plug in some sizes. From there, you can click on alternate sizes that are listed to see what's available for them too. There's also a calculator to compare two different tires. It's a great website!

Interco has few odd sizes, but most are bias plys and have massive lugs.
