So originally I thought just swap out the factory shocks, set the 5100s at 2.8 and you're good to go, riding better than stock. I've noticed a few people talking about replacing the UCAs as well... Is this necessary? If so, why?

This is not necessary, only a small population of people with a level on their trucks have had upper ball joints popping up ( 2013 &2014 ) I've not heard of a 15 with this issue ...
Maybe a 15 owner will chime in .
So you likely will be fine .

Installing a level with the Bilsteins is the prefered way verses spacers , due to the way it lifts and the stresses it puts on the system .
The 15 s uca and Balljoint may be of a diff design . Not sure .

I installed the Mevotech UCA'S for cheep insurance because I use my truck as a 4wd .
The problem a few has had is the Balljoint I n the uca migrating out through the top , you can just install the bills and keep.an eye on you ball joints!

Thanks for the quick reply.. This is definitely something to consider.. I had 2" spacers on my 2011, no issues on/off-road.. But I wouldn't ever go back to spacers. Guess everything is a coin flip when lifting these trucks.

I spoke too soon , I just read ohif a 15 with the same Balljoint issue as the 13 &14 , but he had spacers installed prior to install of the bills ...
If you do install the bilsteins and your still concerned about you ball joints, ROCK AUTO has the Mevotecs UCAs for $80.00 plus shipping for the pair !
Cheep piece of mind for me ! Easy install .

I second the Mevotechs from rock auto. They are better than stock because they won't break. The stock UCAs tend to pop the ball joints when they over-extend. (On 2013+ rams)

Those part numbers for the 4wd? Or is there not a difference?

Is this more of an issue with the blis maxed out at 2.8?

Any of you have the blis installed for a while now, with factory UCAs?

Any particular reason you'd "never go back to spacers"?

I have Bils @ 2.1", no Mevo, 16k miles. Lots of desert trail riding with full droop and compression...

I was under the impression you only needed to change the UCA's if you leveled with a spacer; if you used the Billstein's you were fine on the 13+ trucks?

***** yes I can upload about 4-5k in front end repairs if u need me too. simply put the spacers 2.5"put the geometry outta whack. cv angles much to high, two half axles snapped as a direct result from that. the bils lift the front totally different and do not compromise the front end parts. literally everything has been replaced at least once, most a few or couple times

lol thats funny. I have 2" spacers for 56k miles with zero issues. the CV angle looks no different than it does without. Spacers or billstiens raised over stock height will change suspension angles.

Basically just because of horror stories like the one above.. I don't go hard off road, just muddy rutted out trails in the woods during hunting season and the beach.. Never had an issue with the spacers. But just makes more sense to me to go with the blis. Not to expensive and evidently "better than factory" ride.
