I have a 2012 5.7 laramie. This is the second time my blower has not came on with the fan switch. You can hear the compressor running. The temp is displayed but there is no air being moved. Both times it did eventually come on. Id say it was probablly 15-20 minutes after startup that it finally came on this time. Any ideas? I think they have ressistors that tend to mess up but im not sure.

It may be that your fan motor is on its way out. You can unplug it and check for voltage next time it goes out to see if it's getting power. I've had similar symptoms on a couple excavators just before the motors went for good mostly because of dust, but never on any of my trucks.

It very well could be! But its fine once it comes on and comes back on after turning off and adjusting speed. Almost seems like a starting issue.

So did the ones on the excavators until they didn't any more. For a while I could reach up and turn the fan a bit and it would start spinning. Just some bad spots on the motor that didn't contact any more because the brushes were worn out. Luck of the draw where it stopped spinning. Will it work again roulette. Not saying that's your problem, but it's my best guess. If you have voltage when it isn't spinning you know for sure. Fans are on amazon for around $125 and not too hard to swap out if it is. I replaced mine in my 2011 when it got too noisy.

Cool thanks. I will check that next time it acts up.

Mine just took a crap also, but it sounds like a bearing in the fan came apart and is blows on the floor and defrost....

How difficult are they to change compared to a 3rd gen? does the whole dash have to come apart?

This is what it looks like under the dash and the new fan motor. My newer one has a carpet that covers it. The 11 is open access. 3 screws and a plug all accessible under the dash pretty easily. No need to remove dash. Stick your head in the passenger foot well and look uo
