Have a 2014 2500 6.4 and getting some ruckus from the front end. I originally thought it was the tires (run 35s) but my brother seems to think wheel bearings and the tires have never really been that noisy. At 92k miles it seems like a good idea to just go ahead and replace both front bearings to be safe. What brands would prove to be best bang for buck. Obviously moog is a top brand but they are way pricey (but if thats the general consensus of best quality and safety then thats what ill do).

if you already verified that your bearings are in fact bad or not try adding grease through the censor hole in the bearing, you might find that the drivers side looks dryer than the passenger side.Adding grease WONT hurt if anything will help longevity of bearings

I just bought a NAPA Fleet. Spent all weekend waiting and searching for the axle nut. Found one today. Local RAM dealer and all the parts stores didn't have it, so I got to travel to the 3rd furthest one. They only have one.

Be sure to check on them when you go to do it.

Mine has 139599 on it. Noticed the tire wearing to the outside. And just heard the growling. It now has about 1/4 inch of play wiggling the tire.

Hopefully finishing mine tonight

I just read that on one of the forums when i did a search. Might be worth a shot till i get new bearings in to help keep things from getting worse. But if i already hear the loud hum i would imagine i should replace them regardless.

The axle nut? It is a one time use nut. My 2nd and 3rd gen have the style with the cotter key (castle nut) when I was looking for the size socket for the nut it said it was the same for 1994 to 2018...wrong. It is much smaller. My 99 and 03 use an 1-11/16...this one may be 1-5/16...but waiting til I get it before I listen to the internet.

In the spec for the nut it says one time use...when removing replace with new. So...i had to wait on a nut lol.

The wheel bearing...it didnt break...and i could still drive it...but I parked it for the time being...will hopefully be driving it tomorrow.

NAPA Fleet. Only one that was available without waiting a week for it. NAPA girl said it was their best one. And it was much cheaper than the Moog they didn't try to force me into

Interesting thing is that it is actually coated...so it won't look all rusted tomorrow.

I'm not impressed with Moog, (got some suspension components for Dad's Toyota that were crap), I got SKF as I came across a thread that had mentioned they were the OEM manufacturer for Mopar.

Oh, I should mention my 2010 had a larger than 1 11/16” nut, I tried 1 5/8, 1 11/16, couldn't find 43mm. Ended up using 1 3/4”, which was slightly loose, but worked fine.

This is fresh in my head, because it was only last week, and I was driving all over trying to find the right socket.

EDIT: this info is probably not for you guys, as I'm pretty sure mine is different than your later models, mine still has the cotter key locking nut which is not one time use, and is larger than yours...

If the bearings are shot, should be growling noise. Especially noticeable when turning.

the main thing is you want to be sure what ever one you buy it has name brand top qaulity bearing. koyo, skf, nsk, ntn, timken. if theres no marking or its not a top name then stay away. if they say made in china run fast. timken and skf likely will be made in usa but could have japan, usa, maybe germany bearing. moog im thinking might have timken bearing. inspect any napa stuff as it isnt always top qaulity. me personaly would probly just get skf and call it a day.

Thought i read somewhere on here that skf was kind of bottom of the barrel?

obviously you dont know anything about bearimgs or hub units. skf are top notch bearing ( primarily from europe. germany, france, italy, bulgaria) . ive used them in various applications and theyre as good as the japan stuff. skf hub units arent always skf bearing however. i put some on my toyota car and they were nsk japan which is top notch also
