Got a bad exhaust leak on my tuck. is an 04 2500 hemi. ordered all new exhaust manifolds with hardware and gaskets. I see 3 broken studs already. My question is, has anyone replaced manifolds? anything special i need to know before i start tearing it apart? is it as bad as it looks to do? The bolts and studs that arnt broken are rusty and crusty too. Any info or tips would be a great help.

Soak em down in PB Blaster for a few days before you do them. Before work hit em, get home from work hit em. The more you use on them the easier they'll come out

It needs to be completely cold. Once the manifold is removed you can get at the broken shafts. Once cracked they will come out easy. I am fortunate with where i live, just did my 05 LX Car and only broke 1 heat shield end nut out of nine. My 03 Truck they all came out easy but then again i did it when bone cold. I recommend 6.1 mopar Header bolts as they are of proper length for any application, have a 10mm bolt head and come pre thread locked so no requirement to go back and re-tighten. Also use Factory gasket on any application too. Good Luck.

well got them off today. Still have 2 broken bolts to drill out of the head and 3 that i can hopefully get extractors on. had to use Oxy acytelyn torch to cut heads of 3 bolts that stripped under the engine mounts. Nightmare job to say the least.
