As long as i'm not twisting the wrenches i'll help out as much as i can with advice :waytogo: :Big Laugh:
I seem to end up helping out buddies more then anything, and i'm lucky if i get fed,let alone paid :Big Laugh:
I'm still working on my buddies Challenger that i did a cam in,and then he broke an axle in 3 days later, and i've gave him a bunch of tools,as he basically had none, and i've burned up 2 tanks of gas going back and forth to his place, and all i've got out of the deal so far was his low milege used non mds 6.4 cam and lifters, and i even gave him one of my spare floorjacks

I would have no problem feeding and paying you, Rick.

I might just have to fly you in if I want to turn my truck into a play toy later, RSW is about 15 minutes from my house. :waytogo:

I really appreciate the kind words, Rick.

If she does fire right up, it'll be thanks to you and all the other members here, I'm really thankful for all the help and encouragement.
Just don't try and fire it on holloween, it's a rule, then you will be fine. You already covered what most guys don't seam to know about and you set those rods good.

Nope, we're on the way to the Wife's cousins house about an hour away. They usually get about 1000 kids on Halloween.

Alternator, starter, exhaust manifolds, dipstick tube, air box, fan clutch, radiator, ags, shrouds, coolant fill, etc., left to go.

Hoping to turn the key tomorrow afternoon or evening.

I noticed a little ticking around 205,000 miles. I used the Redline oil once and I think it made the ticking less noticeable, not that it was very noticeable anyways. It got louder over the next few months and I figured it was the exhaust manifold gaskets. Took it to the dealership and they replaced them along with the broken bolts. Sounded like brand new when I picked it up.

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. I am the original owner. It has only had Mobil 1 synthetic oil in it, including a 500 mile oil change for break in. I change the oil and filter when the instrument cluster says to change it.

Engine has 140,000 miles on it.

Recently it started ticking. Mostly noticeable at idle.

I knew that the two common problems with these engines are broken exhaust manifolds and/or studs, and lifters.

They said some manifold bolts were broken. They replaced the manifolds and the studs.

Engine still ticks, though not as badly as before. I'm assuming that I have a lifter problem that was masked with the manifold leak tick.

I have left the truck with them again and they are going to investigate. They said the fix is a new cam and lifters.

I'm assuming this will cost $3500 or so to fix. I'm not going to do the work myself. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to put a new crate engine in it. The truck has been fantastic and we really like it. I'm not interested in having car payments ever again with the price of new vehicles these days, so I don't mind putting $10K into it.
I also have a 2011 1500 Sport Truck with 136k with a slight tick. I was told that it piston wrist pins and was common with 5.7 and especially the 6.3 hemi.

Here is a video of the truck running on cold startup. The ticking seems to be loudest from the passenger side towards the rear of the engine.

5w30, there is a long reason why just trust me. If you can, get a royal purple 20-820 18 bucks Amazon, again long reason why trust me. Redline cheaper then ever at Amazon, 81 for 6 but buy two = case 10% Off. 162 case - 10% = cheap price.
Amazon says the 20-820 Royal Purple filter does not fit a 2015 Ram 1500.

It fits, they changed the filter spec to the 10-48, but the 20-820 fits it is the larger size and better flow as a matter of fact. The first 3 years this generation had the larger spec. See oil filter thread, only the 20-820 has more holes for flow, 8 holes. Even it's clones the amsoil ea and the Fram endurance doesn't have the 8 holes. Since we are dealing with a tick situation, you want the best flow on the best filter. It is loose spun glass and full flow, I certainly wish there were more options, but this is the one.

Video of complete teardown on removed 392. Surprise, or not, at the end.

This is the tear down that's really scary, lol
@EdGs check it out at about the 38 minute mark,as that's the main bolt that builds up sludge if you do have a sludge buildup, which you really didn't have

That is the correct filter, the RP 20-820, and it most definitely fits. I have one on my 2014 5.7L right now. You are ordering the exact filter that folks here are recommending.
The Amazon computers don't like it because it is over-size, that's all.

Just for fun, note your oil pressure at hot idle and on the road at maybe 65mph,
before switching to the RL 5w-30 and RP 20-820. Then note your oil pressure afterwards. Mine went up. A lot.

So has Ram made design changes to fix this seemingly common lifter/cam problem in the 5.7 Hemi engine?

In 2016 they made beefier lifters or should I say needle bearings, that is about it. I don't know about the rebirth e torque 2026 hemi. The new lifters still not a huge improvement to structural issues.

Must've updated before '16. Had a bad lifter in my '15 that I've had since Sept. of '17 with 28,600 miles. Failed at 201k miles. Lifter only had 13 needles in it.

Unless mine had a lifter job before I got it.
