So I have been looking at this forum for a while and I just want to say its a great site with a lot of good info and bad ass trucks. That being said I have been wanting to post but just did not have anything until now. I wanted some side steps for my truck but I just did not want to spend the money so I spent 30 and bought all the metal I needed. What do yall think?

Now I do plan on taking them back off and painting them black.

I don't want to criticize your work. I mean it looks good, I personally would move them back a little, they look too far up near the edge of the door. Once again, just what I would do/ my opinion.

But the steps look really good man

I always like to hear what people think and its a good idea, I have not made the driver side yet so I might just make them a little closer.

Thanks

No problem man, I just didn't want to make myself seem like a ass. The work looks real good too.

As a point of reference, I'd put the very beginning of the step and the end of the handle, just go straight down and put it on, not sure if you bolted it on, or welded it. But that'd be, in my view, the best location. But if you like the location, do it. It's your truck.

What is your basis for this?

I really appreciate all the comments and if anybody was wondering why I put the steps where I did, it was because my wife said it would be the easiest to get in the truck with the step at that particular location.

the location looks really good on those. when placing customs steps just take a normal approach into the truck and look down and see where you foot goes. thats where the step should be. thats how i marked mine when i built these for my 06

I agree. They look great. I would just move both back a bit
