BTW,

When i google search the part# in your label pic above, that part# shows to be the NV246. I dont know whats going on with BW and New Venture Gear, but i iget the impression that the 44-44 and the nv246 were the same transfer case.

If so, then id bet that the NV243 and the BW44-45 are the same transfer case as well.

Ken226’s research matches my understanding.

What you should do is determine what t-case type AlfaOBD shows you currently programmed to. If it shows “246” (like in the options above) we may be able to conclude that BW44-44 and NV246 are controlled the same.

You could also try selecting “243” as your t case type. Since this was the equivalent transfer case to the the BW44-45 it may work

View attachment 187710 Try “analog 244”. I bet it will work

Im at work right now, till 4pm or i would go out and reprogram to the 243 now, just to test this theory. Maybe ill try it this weekend.

If it turns out to be correct, this really opens up some options. It means that all the 1500 transfer cases from 2009 up to 2018 would interchange.

If someone wanted 4-auto, a 2017 bw44-44 could be swapped into a 2009 ram and set to the nv246 program.

Or,

Someone with a later 44-44 model wouldnt be limited to hunting down a used 2013+ 44-45. They could just as easily swap in a NV243 and run it with the either the 4446 syncro program, or the 243 program.

@TxRam409 try “analog 244” and let us know if it works. Based on the screenshot from the BCM dump above I believe it may fix your issue.

“Analog 244” is the setting I believe will work....I wouldn’t try “243” unless 244 doesn’t work.

Ok. Ill try that this weekend.

Unless the op tries it, and confirms that it does/doesnt work first.

Out of curiousity, why do you think 244 stands a better chance of working?

Ok, nevermind the last question. I think i get it. AlphaOBD shows all of the cases listed in that log dump as being the same program, correct?

Btw: how do i create that log dump? Id like create one as a backup?

That is correct. All of those cases show they use the same programming based on the log dump.

I can’t remember how I did the log dump...it’s been quite a while. I’m pretty sure there are instructions at the beginning of the AlfaOBD thread.

I tired it multiple times and finally got it to accept the program. Gonna try it tomorrow to see if 4wd high works.

Definitely fingers crossed here too.

How are you going to test it?

@Ken226 there's a really big hill not far from where I live. I will put it in 4 high to see if all 4 tires spin. When in 2wd i never make it up that incline.

That sucks...I’m pretty surprised it didn’t work

Yea, same here. Im wondering if he generated a log file to make sure the change took.

Maybe time to try the 243?

Aside from that, the only thing left to do is to pull the shift motor to the transfer case and make sure its making the movements for the selector settings and double check the wiring connections to make sure nothings loose.
