Does anyone know what the purpose of the vents located behind the rear seat in the cab wall? I noticed dust coming in while riding in the back seat on a dusty road.
Would it harm anything to seal them up?

They allow the air pressure to equalize quickly. Sealing them is a bad idea as the air pressure from closing a door could break windows. Some have used a light filter material to mitigate sound and dust.

If you’re doing a Laramie seat upgrade is it a good idea to do the upgrade in a 2017 model express while the seats are out ?
I would do it. It’s about $40 and peace of mind knowing your old vents won’t leak during the first rainstorm after you bolt those new seats in.
