should I do an intake or get a tuner for my truck first? ive made up my mind that I want a s&b intake and a superchips flashpaq as my first 2 mods. ive had a 04 4.7 2wd ram with set up before and loved it, wanting to put it on my 10 5.7 4x4 ram. but what should I do first? long story short im deploying in about 2 months and when I do, my wife will take it back home from Oklahoma to Washington, stay while im gone, then make the trip back when I get back state side. for that year im gone what will be better for the truck? mainly in terms of mpg and not make the truck to ridiculous/complicated for her. any info helps

also the mds will stay on while im away even if I get the tuner first

The tuner and forget the S&B a drop in K&N will do you just a much good. Put the saved money toward a Cat back system.

Ya definitely a tuner. Can't beat the trinity. If you going to Afghanistan bundle up the winter gets cold in RC east if that's where your headed.

Yeah I'd go for a tuner! I have an S&B CAI also and really like it!

Jon, first off, thank you for your service. Like everyone else has said, the tuner is going to get you the best bang for your buck. Superchips is not a bad tuner at all when it comes to generic canned tunes, but you can get a stronger and more responsive tune by going with a Diablo InTune with a Hemifever custom tune. Where Superchips is making 20-22hp/tq to the wheels, the Hemifever custom tune will get you 30-35hp/tq to the rear wheels. The custom tune will also include transmission tuning to make the truck more responsive and make it shift quicker as well. The Intune w/ Hemifever custom tune is a little more expensive at $439, but is a noticeable difference over Superchips.

Why is this guy constantly hocking the K&N drop in?! Lol. Pretty sure if they netted the same gains as the exponentially more expensive intakes the majority of us buy, that Info woulda spread like wildfire on here and every other board. Everyone loves cheap HP.

is the HF service still included or is it an add on now? I looked at yours site and for the Intune it was 449 plus 40. Thats the route i'm going if I sell my SC tuner.

On the InTune DCX, the custom tune upgrade is only $40. On the Trinity, the custom tune is included for free.
