I guess the flap opens with enough backpressure from the engine breathing?
That hole in the fender is why even the stock setup is better than a WAI like the K&N and a couple others.
lmao

Sound yes when on the freeway I hear a little deeper tone. I did get a little better throttle response when flooring it doing 70mph. I haven't had a lot of time with it but I will do some short runs around town today and I'll see how it goes.

So I was curious and took a peek under the hood, on the stock box where the airfilter is located is connected to the top of the wheel well. I looked under the wheel well and noticed a flap. Is that the air intake point? Doesn't that restrict the airflow, or am I missing something?
As I said "...not as much flow, but the OEM is relatively cold air induction through the fender"

Out of all the CAI's for our 4th Gens, I like the appearance of the S + B the best. (Maybe due to the lack of square surfaces,,, looks 'more at home' than some of the others???)
It also tries to make good use of the ~cool~ air inside the fender.
The Mopar (Brute Force) intake looks pretty 'muscular' but it's not much of a cool air sipper,,,
Buy what ya want and enjoy it!

No problem!!!

It's only natural to think the CAI tract/filter/whatnot are the 'bottlenecks', but in reality, with modern FI gas engines, unless you are running WOT, it's virtually always the TB,,

That's what makes broad claims of 'improved MPG' so vague/sporadic,,, In some cases,, depending mostly on the vehicle and what ya had before you installed the aftermarket CAI,, maybe some do get better MPG, but if you are already driving in a fuel efficient manner, with a modern, properly functioning OEM intake system and clean filter,,, the 'low hanging grapes' of better MPG have already been plucked,,,

I believe most CAI's may get ya a little more power, but again,, only at WOT.

They certainly have the ability to add in the looks/sound department!

If I were to do it all over again I would just cut the hole and buy the filter instead of going S&B. The plexi window gets really etched and the benefits aren't really there. Money would be better put towards a tuner w/custom tune.
